How to Install Seat Covers in a Car:

Car seats experience a lot of wear and tear and can soon look shoddy and older than the rest of the car. You can install covers to get your seats looking new again.

• Take the headrest off the seat. You can do this by pulling up on the headrest. It will stop at the highest adjustment, but pull harder, and it should come out completely.
• Tilt the seat forward. You don't need to slide the entire seat forward unless it is difficult to reach the back of the seat, as in a single cab truck.
• Position the seat cover over the seat. Slide it down over the entire seat starting at the top. It may be difficult to pull down completely, but the snug fit will make the cover look better once it has been installed. If it fits loosely, there will be wrinkles in the seat cover.
• Pull the seat cover over the base of the seat. You may have to stretch it a bit for it to reach completely over the seat base.
• Using the hooks supplied with the seat cover, fasten the seat cover to the underside of the seat. You can fasten them to one another or onto anything under the seat that will hold it. Be careful not to put the hook in the way of the sliding bar of the seat.
• Cut two small slits in the top of the seat covers for the headrest to fit back into position. You can make a very small hole because the seat covers will stretch some. If the hole is too big, it may rip further than you want over time.

How to Clean Car Seat Cushions:

• Remove all large debris from the car. Any trash, large food items, toys and other clutter will need to be removed to give you the best access to the car seat cushions. Throw trash away in the trash bags, and put other items away inside or place them beside the car until you are done cleaning and they can be replaced
• Vacuum the car. Give the car seats a once-over with the handheld vacuum. This will pick up most of the major dust and dirt. Make sure to press down on the lower cushions so that you can vacuum in the cracks between the seat and the seat-back. Be sure to also lift up any arm rests, cup holders, etc., to get any dirt out from underneath them
• Target grease spots with the dish detergent. Squirt a little dish detergent on a clean rag and use it to dab away the grease spot. You should not need any extra water for this. The grease spots should come up with the detergent. Dish detergent will also work on food stains like sauces
• Use the stain remover for other stains. Dirt, crayon and even ink will often come up with a good stain remover. Apply the stain remover with a clean rag, then let it sit for a few minutes. Usually you can then remove the stain with a damp rag by blotting and rubbing the area gently
• Vacuum the car again. This time, go over every part of every seat cushion at least four times. Again, work your way into every crack and crevice with the tip of the vacuum. When you are done, your car should be clean and ready to show off
