How to Make a Wooden Comb:
- Draw a line across the board so it is at a right angle to the 5-inch edge and 2 1/2 inches away from each edge. Router the ends of the board so they are round. This will allow a comfortable grip when the comb is in your hand
- Set the fence on the table saw 1/8-inch away from the blade and raise the blade 2 inches above the table
- Cut a 1/8-inch slot in the board while keeping the 5-inch edge against the fence. Stop when the blade reaches the line and pull the board back, reversing the direction you pushed the board in. Turn the saw off and move the fence 1/4-inch farther from the blade so it is 3/8 inches away from the blade. Make another cut, using the same process as for the first
- Cut 12 more grooves by following the same cutting process you used in Step 3. Move the fence in 1/4-inch increments to space the slots evenly
- Sand down the comb using your medium-grade sand paper and fine-grade sand paper. Be sure to sand the corners of each tooth. Wipe the comb clean with your tack cloth
How to Properly Comb Wet Hair:
- Squeeze excess water out of your hair with a towel instead of rubbing it. Rubbing your hair with a towel only causes more tangling and also contributes to split ends
- Spray your hair with de-tangling spray and work it through your tresses with your fingers
- Comb through your hair with your fingers to get the larger tangles out
- Position a wide-toothed comb near the ends of your hair. Brush downward through a section of hair, getting rid of any tangles at the ends of your hair. Avoid yanking, instead gently combing down in quick, gentle strokes to remove knots and tangles
- Work your way up your hair until you reach the roots. Pull the comb down from root to tip
How to Comb Hair in Different Designs:

Combing Your Part in Different Designs
- Choose a part style that will complement your hair type and the overall look you are trying to achieve. Zigzag parts are a playful look that is best on dense hair that can be parted cleanly. A curved part is a more elegant and asymmetrical style that will give you a swept-aside look. The crisscross part is ideal for sparse hair that needs a thicker more voluminous appearance
- Wash and dry your hair or start with hair that is already dry. According to Hair Boutique, creating the look of designed parts is best accomplished on "aged hair" that is dry and not freshly shampooed to reduce flyaway hairs
- Start from the front of your usual part and use a stencil to guide the design of your part or freehand the design with the end of a rat-tail comb or a hair pin. Drag the tool through your part in the desired design. The part can be on the top of your head or extend all the way to the back if you are wearing your hair in pigtails. Use your creativity and work with your hair's natural shape and texture to achieve the best look
- Check the back of your part with a small hand-held mirror and finish your look with hairspray or a flyaway-reducing serum to keep everything in place. Add a jeweled clip or headband to further accentuate the look

03-24-2011- Other Thoughts: I thought it was a very expense after I compared the price with the store. I have not used it yet because my baby have not born. It seems that it will do the job.

02-05-2011- Other Thoughts: This is a solid product and I would recommend it for other people. There are cheaper options out there however, I wanted a good brush and comb for my twins. The bristles on the brush are also nice and soft.

01-07-2011- Other Thoughts: Very pleased with this brush and comb. I bought it for the brush when my son finally started sprouting some hair around 8 months, but once he got past the peach fuzz stage I find that I actually use the comb much more often. Both are sturdy and the brush is dense but very soft.
