About Cross Stitch:
Cross-stitch is one of the easiest and most interesting forms of stitching because you're working on a grid (the material) and it's kind of like connect-the-dots. Indeed, cross stitch is one of the earliest embroidery stitches known to man and beautiful examples of the stitch can be found throughout the world from Europe to the Americas.

- Believe it or not, during the first half of the last century, hand embroidery was a popular leisure pastime for many women and this hobby occupied many hours of spare time in the days before television. Sun and moon cross stitch is easy to learn and requires only a few supplies as it is based on the simple action of crossing one thread against the other. This action in stitching has been used around the globe since the beginning of textile history.
How to Finish Counted Cross Stitch:

- Step One: Start from the top left of the stitch, then bring the needle through from the bottom, holding the tail at the back of the thread. Leave about an inch (2.5 cm) on the back for an anchor if not using the loop start method
- Step Two: Bring the thread down to the lower right corner
- Step Three: Then back up through the upper right and down through the lower left, forming an X. Each time you should pull the thread all the way through so that it is flush with the fabric surface
- Step Four: Start your next stitch so it uses two of the same holes as the picture
- Step Five: Repeat, making sure your stitches overlap your anchor thread on the back of the fabric

06-10-2011- Other Thoughts: The Counted Cross Stitch Kit is inspiring for a stitcher of any age. The designs are new and innovative, some small enough to be finished in one sitting. Cross stitch in places where no one else has. Worth every penny! I have been stitching for over 20 years and just love these Cross Stitch Kits, a new stitcher will, too.

I really ended up loving it! <br/>This is great for the beginner, or the advanced who wants to take a break from huge projects we all know will never get finished. I have been stitching for a long time.

06-01-2011- Other Thoughts: If you are looking for complicated color patterns however, I'd give it a miss. The author relies more on varigated threads and multi-hued backgrounds to add sparkle to her designs. A good way for begingers to get some extra bang for their buck when first stepping into the cross-stitch world.
