How to Make a Coffee Cover:

When you prepare a cup of coffee, there's nothing quite like holding that hot cup in your hands and taking tentative sips. However, the coffee can cool off much too fast sometimes. Or, the cup might be much too hot to handle. In these cases, a coffee cover would be beneficial. Make one yourself to protect your hands and keep your coffee warmer longer.
Instructions:
- Draw out the shape and design of your coffee cover template. Think of it as a wide band that will encompass the widest part of the cup. You may use a cardboard wrapper from a coffee shop as a guide. Wrap the paper template around your coffee cup to make sure it fits. Keep in mind you will want the width of the design to be just slightly less than the width of the cup
- Attach the template to your cloth sheet, using pins or tape to hold in place. Cut the cloth following the template. Once cut out, hem the rough edges, if needed, by folding them down about 1/8 inch and sewing a straight stitch. To do this, simply slip matching thread through the eye of a needle and insert it into the area to be hemmed and the cover. Make a loop through both pieces of fabric, and draw the needle through it. Cinch this down and repeat all along both hems
- Wrap the fabric around the coffee cup tight so it's snug in place. Mark where you will stitch both ends of the strip of fabric. Hold the two ends together and straight stitch them together. Slip the coffee cover over the cup to ensure it fits
