How to Measure Your Pet:
- Neck: measure around the neck as you would for a collar
- Girth: measure the chest at its widest point, all the way around, which is typically right behind the front legs. If the dog has a large girth, going up a size is recommended
- Length: measure from the neck to the base of the tail. This is where the collar rests to where the tail meets the rear-end
How to Choose a Good Dog Coat:
- Measure your dog before you shop for a dog coat. Place a tape measure at the base of his neck and run it down to the base of his tail, where it meets his body
- Determine which cut or style is best for your dog. When choosing a dog coat for a male dog, avoid clothes that cover their entire tummy area. They may accidentally soil the coat when urinating.
- Select a coat made of appropriate material. One thing that you need to remember though is that not all dog coats are created equal. Coats differ greatly in terms of quality both in regards to the material they are made from and also in terms of the way they fit your dog
- Ensure that the dog coat is water resistant. A waterproof dog coat will keep your dogs fur dry from the rain and also from wet and dew covered bushes and grass.
- Look at the closures on the dog coat. Some coats will offer zippers. Theses are particularly helpful for very active dogs. Elastic and Velcro closures are good for more docile dogs. Other closures include buttons and snaps. Try several styles on your dog to determine which style will stay in place
- Pick a color and pattern which suits your dog and your sense of style. There are many kinds of style clothes in the market. Therefore, decide how you want your dog to look when you decide to get one.
Tips & Warnings:
- Most dogs don't need a coat as they already have a warm, waterproof one which suits them beautifully! Before you spend money, ask yourself what the coat is for
- Make sure the dog coat you select fits correctly
- Some dogs hate wearing coats at first. Persevere a few minutes each day, gradually increasing the wearing time until your dog reluctantly accepts it and then doesn't mind it

06-28-2011- Other Thoughts: This Pet Dog Coat looked SO cute on my 8 month old Pomeranian Puppy size was perfect with plenty of give but still a great fit, but by the end of the night the part right next to the velcro on his left side had SHREDDED!! Very poor quality unfortunately. Colour is PERFECT too... ...sigh....

08-02-2011- Other Thoughts: I bought two of these jackets for my 14 lb rat terrier. One was double fleece and the other fleece and nylon. I love them both and the price was very good. The sizes run a bit big, I think. I like the way the bottom covers her naked belly and that the back goes all the way to her tail. The collar is a bit stiff, but you can fold it down to give more room. Most of all it is warm enough to keep her going in the New England winter cold. Would recommend definitely.

07-19-2011- Other Thoughts: I bought a couple of these for my foster Chihuahuas, they really keep them warm but you may want to check your sizing carefully. Even though they are adjustable around the girth, the neck to tail dimension runs a little large. We had to put a dart in them, but other than that will make great walk around coats that will keep these little warm blooded precious pups quite toasty.

06-06-2011- Other Thoughts: The Soft Dog Coat was nice enough...I was a little disappoint that it is as thin as it was but it is made nicely and the service from the company was great. I ordered it right around Christmas figuring it wouldn't get her till after Christmas but was pleasantly surprised to get the jacket in just a few days. Soph loves it (the dog).
