- One: Measuring your dog's neck to estimate her collar size. Hold the tape in the middle of your dog's neck and measure the circumference from that point. Add 2" to the result so you can purchase a collar that is big enough to adjust.
- Two: Select your collar. Modern dog collars come in all shapes and sizes, from rich leather to brightly colored flat webbing. Choose a collar that is sturdy enough to withstand wear and tear and will not bleed dye onto your dog's coat.
