Some only receive signals within a limited distance. Signals generally travel farther when they're in the line of sight instead of traveling through walls
- Choose auxiliary indoor cameras according to their purpose. In a baby's room, for example, look for an infrared lens and a directional microphone that activates the camera only when the baby coos or cries. Web cams start as low as $20; basic indoor systems range from $70 to $200

03-28-2012- Other Thoughts: I just purchased this. I have two entrances to my house which are about 30 feet apart. It is an old house and maybe the walls are too thick because the unit can not be positioned in a way that it works for both doors. It works fine for each door individually but I will now need to purchase another one.

When we're in the basement we can't hear the front doorbell, so two years ago my husband installed a second doorbell from a different manufacturer. It broke last month, which was rather surprising since the bell honestly didn't get that much use. Since we bought this one and had been used for nearly one month.
