How to Change a Dome Light Bulb:
The dome light is an interior light bulb, located on the ceiling of the vehicle, that illuminates the vehicle cabin. The dome light has three different power options. Depending on the option the driver prefers, the dome light bulb may burn out quickly, for instance, if the driver has the dome light switched on all the time as opposed to using it intermittently when opening and closing the door or for reading purposes. Replacing the dome light requires minimal tools and can be done without bringing your vehicle in to a mechanic
- Turn the dome light to the "Off" position. In most vehicles, the "Off" position is the middle of the three options on the switch. Refer to your owner's manual for the exact location
- Remove the bulb lens cover. Depending on the vehicle, you may have to remove two screws holding the lens in place with a screwdriver. If no screws are present, pry the lens off with a flat head screwdriver. Place the screwdriver opposite the light switch and press in. The lens cover should pop off, giving you access to the bulb
- Unscrew the light bulb from the dome socket. Discard the old bulb. Screw a new bulb into the dome socket until the bulb is tight and secured
- Replace the lens cover then push on it to snap it in place or use the screwdriver to secure the screws
How to Wire a Dome Light:
Navigating the interior of your vehicle at night can be a difficult task due to the low light. Installing a dome light will make this a lot easier. Connecting the light to the vehicle's electrical system will require some basic 12-volt knowledge, and you can control the light via the door switches or a switch mounted in the light fixture itself. With a few basic tools and some patience, you can complete this project over a weekend
- Feel around the headliner with your hands for the stock dome light installation mounts. If your vehicle doesn't have one or you can't locate it, choose an approximate location
- Measure the width of the ceiling. Divide this number in half and measure to the center of the ceiling and mark this location with a pencil
- Locate the interior fuse panel. If you are having difficulty the owner's manual will point you in the right direction. Remove the headliner's trim on the side of the vehicle with the fuse panel
- Cut a 1-inch slit in the future location of the dome light to feed the wire through. Bend the coat hanger into one straight piece. Tape the insulated wire to one end of it
- Push the coat hanger past the door trim under the headliner and in the direction of the dome light. Guild the hanger to the hole you have cut in the liner
- Remove the wire from the end of the hanger and pull through the hole leaving enough length to fasten to the wires comfortably. Remove the hanger
- Install the reflector base to the dome light location with the provided self taping screws. Fasten the light's ground wire under one of these screws. Be careful not to damage the roof's body work. There should be a structural cross beam to mount it to
- Connect the light's positive wire to the insulated wire you fished past the headliner with a butt connector. This connector works by placing two stripped wires in either end and compressing with pliers
- Install a light bulb in the socket and snap the lens cover into its place
- Run the wire from the side of the headliner to the fuse panel. Hide the wire by pushing it into the edges of the interior trim work
- Connect the wire to the fuse tap with a butt connector and push the tap into an available fuse location. Test the light for power

10-25-2011- Other Thoughts: The Ceiling Dome Light has worked well with changing my circadian rhythm. The price point is good and I had it reviewed (and many other of these types of lamps) by an opthalmologist and he deemed it to be the safest at that price point. Even at that price point, he said that it is absolutely safe. The only displeasure I have with it is an unpleasant rubber or plastic smell. If the company could eliminate that, I would give it five stars instead of four.

10-21-2011- Other Thoughts: Great Car LED Lights at a very good price point. I suffer from seasonal affective disorder, so I really value my lamp. I was excited to order and receive my bulb. It lasts a very long time, saves me money compared to incandescent bulbs, and does not flicker! The light is soft, easy on my eyes, and yet gives me all the illumination I need and really helps lift my mood.
