Climbing ropes consist of seven inner cores of twisted fibers, and an outer core that helps to strengthen the rope, deflecting mildew and scraping. Be sure to check your ropes regularly to ensure your climbing rope is still in good working condition. This Escape Survival Rope is suitable for people who like outdoor activities. How to Tie a Fire Escape Knot

    Escape Rope

The fire-escape knot, otherwise known as the bowline, is one of the most common knots. A fire-escape knot forms a secure loop at the end of a rope that can be used to secure a climber's harness or in rescue situations. A fire-escape knot is secure enough to hold a rope firmly to a pole or post, which gives this knot its name. Another knot can be made at the bottom of the rope to anchor your foot as you are being lowered from a window. Read on to learn more.

    • Hold a piece of rope in your left hand with enough slack at the end to form your final loop. Form a small loop beginning where your left thumb and forefinger are holding the rope. The slack end of the rope should curve over the top of the piece in your left hand. Hole the two pieces together with your left hand so that the small loop is on the right side
    • Pull the slack end of the rope up through the hole. When teaching the fire-escape or bowline knot, many people describe the small loop as a "rabbit hole" the end of the rope as the "rabbit" and the excess rope you are holding with your left hand as the "tree." So, after you have made the "rabbit hole," the rabbit comes out of the hole
    • Bring the "rabbit" or end of the rope around the back of the upper piece of rope, or the "tree," moving from right to left. Finally, the "rabbit" goes back down the hole. This time moving downwards, place the end of the rope into the hole
    • Tighten the slack to finish the fire-escape or bowline knot

    How to Escape a Cave:

    Survival Rope

Cave exploration is an exciting hobby that isn't for everyone. It can be claustrophobic to go deep into a cave even under the best of circumstances. If you find yourself lost, these feelings will be exacerbated. While you should never go spelunking alone, if you find that you are lost, you must jump into survival mode immediately and find a way out for you and your team members.

    • Remain calm and do what you can to assess the situation. Sit down in your current location and inventory your gear and rations. When you sit down, make sure you face the direction you were walking in to prevent getting further disoriented
    • Conserve battery and light sources. You don't know how long you will be lost, so you need to limit use of these items to utilize them as long as possible to find a way out
    • Check your phone to determine if you have a signal. Chances are you won't if you are deep in a cave but you may occasionally engage a signal. If you have a signal, call for help and stay put. If you don't have a signal, your smart move here is to turn the phone off and use it as a last light source
    • Light a candle and let it sit for at least 30 seconds. If the candle flickers, you will be able to determine which direction the air flow is coming from. That is a direction to the way out. Use the candle at any forks you may encounter to determine the best direction to proceed
    • Leave an item behind at the point you got lost. If you have a rope, use the rope as a line marking the path you came from. If you don't have a rope, use items you have with you to create a trail. If you took the wrong path, you should be able to pick these up on the way back to your starting point
    • Maintain body heat if you need to stop and rest, especially if it is cold and damp. Huddle together if you are in a group to transfer heat among yourselves
    • Use light sources as minimally as possible. If your batteries are dying, use a piece of clothing and wrap it around a stick or pole if you have one. Light it on fire. If you have no light, sit for a half-hour to allow your eyes to adjust to the dark

00:00:00 10-11-2011 Perfect Rope! Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I've been climbing every weekend and more with this rope for the past 4 months and it's held up real well. Very light and I love the color. My boyfriend has the same rope. he's 2 years into using it and it's still great! This is the only rope worth buying!

00:00:00 10-23-2011 Strong Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: It was my first rope and I've been very pleased with it. I climb three or four times a week in spring/summer/fall and less frequently in the winter. I've been using this as my primary rope for a year with much of that being lead climbing and taking falls on it. It's held up very well and still has a good feel to it. <br/>I'd buy it again without hesitation.

00:00:00 09-20-2011 Durable and Lightweight Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: Bought this rope for glacial travel for 2 and 3 person teams. Took it up Mt. Rainier in late September and it worked great. Due to its lightweight and 100f length it easy to pack. Color is bright enough to see well even in the darkest of nights on the mountian. It takes knots well, bites tight, but also unties easily. Buy with confidence.

00:00:00 10-25-2011 Durable Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I have had this rope for a few weeks now and taken it out to Redrock twice now. All sport and top ropes. It is not heavy but I went with a stronger rope because of the way we use it. Good solid survival rope. Runs smoothly!
