    How to Clean an Evening Dress:

    You found the perfect gown, and you wore it for the first time. Now you need to clean it. Most formal dress labels indicate that you should have your dress professionally dry cleaned, but dry cleaning is expensive. Luckily, as long as your dress isn't rayon, acetate, leather, or suede, you can easily clean it at home using water and facial soap, saving yourself money in the process

    Tuscan Elegant Ruffles Strapless Knee Length Taffeta Evening Dress

    • Pour 2 tablespoons of soap into a sink or bucket. Fill the sink or bucket with cold tap water. The running water should make the soap sudsy. If you find that suds aren't forming, add another 2 tablespoons of soap and stir it with your hands until it becomes sudsy
    • Plunge your gown in and out of the sudsy water seven to eight times, thoroughly wetting it
    • Rub the underarms and collar of the dress with your fingers. If there is beading or lacework around the arm holes or collar, be extra gentle to avoid ripping the detailing. If there are any other problem areas, use your fingers to clean them as well
    • Empty your sink or bucket and fill it with clean, cold water. Rinse the gown by plunging it in and out of the clean water seven or eight times. Continue dunking until it's thoroughly rinsed and there's no more soap visible
    • Lay a terrycloth bath towel flat on the floor or a table. Lay the gown flat on the towel. Starting at the top of the gown, roll it up in the towel. As you roll, you're pressing the water out. Once they're completely rolled up, unroll the towel and the gown
    • Lay a second towel on the floor or table. Move the gown to this towel. Roll the towel and the gown as you did in the previous step
    • Continue to transfer the gown to clean, dry towels, rolling them together until water is no longer dripping from the gown.
    • Transfer your gown to a flat surface. Reshape it and allow it to dry

    How to Accessorize Formal Evening Wear:

    • Accessories embellish any outfit, and a formal evening is the perfect occasion to go to town. From amber to zircon, hats to hose, scarves and shawls to shoes and slip-ons, consider the occasion and the season
    • Overview: Accessorize one (or all) of your most visible areas: neck, wrists and shoulders
    • Think seriously about costume jewelry and faux gems; they are relatively inexpensive and readily accessible at department stores and secondhand boutiques
    • Evaluate your formal outfit carefully: Is it simple and elegant or fancy and froufrou? (Remember that a hot pink feather boa will be a showstopper at a ball but will merely attract stares at a college graduation)
    • Ponder the notion that less is usually more ... and almost always suffices
    • Jewelry: Choose a matching bracelet and necklace
    • Get real, cultured or faux pearls and wear them anywhere
    • Wear a tennis bracelet - such as a single strand of diamonds - for a dramatic look. Or consider an evening watch instead of a bracelet
    • Try elegant pearl or diamond studs for your ears. Vintage clip-ons or exotic dangling earrings could also work
    • Adorn your hair with sparkling clips, tortoiseshell barrettes, a diamond tiara or even a fresh gardenia
    • Find a ring that complements your other jewelry
    • Shoes, Shawls and Silk Purses: Put on your fancy shoes, no matter how elegant or frivolous, but be sure they are comfortable enough to dance the night away
    • Choose stockings in a neutral palette. If you want hose with a design, make it subtle
    • Go with gloves to the opera, a debutante ball or the Ascot races
    • Toss a shawl around your shoulders; make sure it goes with your outfit in terms of color and texture
    • Try a lace mantilla or a vintage smoking jacket for "a look" or for warmth

This taffeta evening dress is very beautiful. It is really long on me though, I am 5'3", and I am having it hemmed and the train cut off. The fit is great on top though. It looks expensive, the fabric is nice...very flowy and very classy. I just love this dress
