How to Use Expansion Cards in Laptop Computers:

• Power on the laptop computer. The system must be on when installing new expansion card slots
• Push in on the expansion slot card to release it from the laptop. Slide the laptop out of the computer to expose the actual expansion card slot
• Plug the expansion card slot. Once completely inserted the computer states it has detected a new, removable device
• Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive of the laptop computer. Wait for the installation wizard to load onto the screen. If it doesn't select "My Computer," double-click the CD icon and choose the "Install" option. This loads the installation wizard onto the screen
• Follow the prompts of the installation wizard to completely install the drivers onto the computer. Restart the system, and you are ready to begin using the laptop expansion card

How to Install an Expansion Card:

An expansion card updates your system with new features. Installing a new card requires sliding off the side panel and removing any old cards. Once you correctly insert the device, in its appropriate place, turn on your system and Windows automatically installs its drivers. Remember, use caution when handling fragile components.

• Power down and unplug all wires and cables from the back of your computer
• Loosen two hand screws on the side panel of the computer and gently slide the panel away from you
• Loosen a screw over top of the expansion slot's metal bracket with the Philips screw driver, and pull the bracket upward
• Line up the pins of the expansion card with the correct slot on the motherboard, and gingerly press down until you hear a "click."
• Slide the side panel slowly back into the rivets, and hand tighten two screws
• Plug all wires and cables to the back of your computer. Turn on the computer and determine if the card was installed correctly
