How to Make a File Organizer
Organizers can be used for all types of paper documents, from tax forms to magazines, making them an essential part of any office. You can make a file organizer by recycling your used cereal boxes. Paint them or cover them in wrapping paper or fabric material. If you need a stronger file organizer, glue pieces of cardboard together, following the cereal-box design.
Instructions:- Remove the wax cereal liner from the box.
- Turn the box so the front is facing you. Measure 4 inches from the bottom on one side. Make a small dot with your pencil.
- Turn the side with the dot toward you. Make a dot on the other side, 4 inches from the bottom.
- Draw a diagonal line from the dot to the opposite corner of the box on the front. Draw another line on the back from the dot to the opposite top. Draw a third line from one dot to the other, which should be 4 inches from the bottom of the box.
- Cut along these three lines with a craft knife and remove the top of the box.
- Paint the organizer or cover with fabric material or wrapping paper. Glue the edges of the material to the organizer.

Instead of cluttering my desk with a bunch of file folders or sticking important file folders into a file cabinet where they are never viewed again, I can now hang them right on the wall in a convenient location.

06-09-2011- Other Thoughts: I keep pocket folders (portfolios) for several important things in my household... one for each of my two kids' medical info, one for each pet's vet records, one for take out menus and restaurant coupons, and several for correspondence sent home from preschool, dance class, and daycare, etc. After a couple years of storing them in a file cabinet or magazine storage box I found this awesome organizational tool. Now all my important folders are hanging in our mudroom, which is "command central" of my house as it also displays a big family calendar, white board, and bulletin board. I put labels on the side of the folders, so they are easily viewable in the sorter. It's so easy to file away new stuff that comes in and to find what I need. If I'm on my way out the door to a pediatrician appointment, I just grab the appropriate folder and head out the door. I feel so organized!

05-18-2011- Other Thoughts: I love this "hanging file cabinet"! I'm a middle school teacher, and as the school day rolls on, and groups of kids enter and leave my room, my desk becomes a scrapyard of paper, books, and files. I love having a place to put papers that's within easy reach and doesn't add to the clutter on my desk. I have it hanging right next to my whiteboard, behind the podium I use for my teacher editions (most classroom walls easily accept stickpins and tacks, and there are three holes ringed in brass at the top to accommodate them).

05-11-2011- Other Thoughts: This Transparent File Pocket can be hung anywhere in a room or even on the back of a door. The pockets are sturdy, deep and wide enough to hold 100 sheets of paper without stressing the fabric. I love it.
