About Outdoor First Aid Kits:
- Considerations - When planning what you need to bring in your first aid kit, you need to take into consideration where you're going and what you'll be doing. You need to consider the terrain you'll be dealing with, as well as any outdoor activities you might be enjoying. Also, taking into consideration the medical condition of the group of people you'll be on this journey with, is imperative. You need to be prepared for the worse that can happen. By having an appropriate first aid kit, you'll be able to respond to any injury or accident when it happens
- Function - The function of a first aid kit is to hold all the items that might be needed in an emergency situation and be able to treat them. You should be prepared for the worse to happen. Many things a first aid kit should be able to treat are sunburns, falls, sprains, heat exhaustion and dehydration, blisters, cuts, quills, snake and animal bites as well as frostbite. If you are prepared for the worse to happen, you'll feel and be more secure and have a greater time enjoying the outdoors
- The Basics - You'll need to take the season, length of trip and potential hazards into account when making up your kit. The basic first aid kit should include adhesive tape, bandages, gauze, alcohol pads, iodine packets, colds packs, roll of gauze, thermometer, electrolytes, ammonia inhalants, tweezers, gloves, bleach, waterproof matches, pain reliever, Benedryl, hydrocortisone cream, antacid, topical analgesic, antibiotic salve, mole skin, scissors, needle and thread, and sunscreen
- Benefits - The last thing you should forget when planning an outdoor excursion, is the first aid kit. Whether for the dog or humans, it's something you don't want to be caught without. Nobody plans or wants and accident to happen, but they do. It's best to be prepared for the worse to happen, than not be prepared at all. By being ready for every possible thing, you'll not only feel safer, but your trip into the outdoors will be much more enjoyable

04-27-2011- Other Thoughts: The kit is very basic, so don't expect too much. But it has what you need for the usual cuts, scratches, and headaches. I have these tucked away in the glove compartment for emergencies.

03-10-2011- Other Thoughts: I have a little kid who almost never stays quiet in one place. One day he scraped his knees and I had to use tap water to rinse and soap to clean his wound. Then I started looking at emergency kits and found this one.

01-06-2011- Other Thoughts: I originally thought this would be one larger kit, <br/>without really looking over the details. Instead I received two TINY kits, but to their defense they were jam packed with stuff. I like the idea that they are so small for travel.

02-23-2011- Other Thoughts: It doesn't have a lot in it and it's really pretty small, but it does have some bandaids and ointments. We've pulled a few bandaids out of it during camping trips for stubbed toes or cut fingers, but that's about all it's going to handle.
