How Do I Mount My Flash to a Light Stand?
- Light Stand Mounts - You can buy a variety of different mounts from camera stores, or the Internet, that will allow you to safely attach a flash to light stands. They are often called "light stand to hot shoe" mounts. Using these professional devices is often worth the expense because they allow you the option to add an umbrella, so the light from the flash can be diffused

- Slave Flashes - If you plan to use a flash that's not connected directly to your camera, it must be a slave flash. This means that it needs some kind of device (usually a light sensor or a cable connected to your camera) to detect when you are trying to take your picture. Without such a device, the flash won't activate
