About Soccer Goalie Gloves:
Function- The gloves of a goalkeeper serve one purpose, and that is to stop the ball from going into the net. Goalies are the only players on the soccer field allowed to use their hands, and the gloves are used to provide a bit more size and extra grip to the goalie's hands. Goalie gloves also provide some protection from the other players' cleats.
Types
- Goalies often use different types of gloves depending on the weather, turf condition and other considerations. For example, "wet" gloves provide exceptional grip for handling slick balls in the rain or snow.
- Most goalkeepers also have designated pairs of gloves for practice. The goalie will use older and cheaper gloves for practice, while his "game gloves" will be of higher quality and kept in better condition.
Construction Materials
- Most goalie gloves are constructed of latex, as it allows for ultimate flexibility in the fingers and palms. The gloves are kept on with Velcro wraps that enclose the wrist completely. The wraps are meant to be ultra-tight so as to prevent an injury from another player's spikes or an especially hard shot.
- Some goalkeeper gloves are equipped with "finger spines" in each of the fingers to prevent injury and provide stability for deflecting and saving shots.

How to Wash Soccer Goalie Gloves:
Do your teammates, friends and family a favor by washing your goalie gloves. It's amazing how badly they can smell.- Concentrate your effort on the insides of the gloves. Because goalie gloves don't breathe, that's where the stench emanates from.
- Run lukewarm water.
- Lather up using a mild soap.
- Pull on a glove, cleaning the inside by wiggling your fingers around.
- Rinse, and repeat as necessary. That's right, same as shampoo directions.
- Do the same with the other glove.
- Let the gloves air dry.

12-09-2010- Other Thoughts: I finally had a chance to test out this Glove last weekend.... <br/>I has awesome grip and better than any other gloves that I have used before but not durable at all. <br/>After the 1st game. Velcro/Wrsirt Strap ripped from the glove and I could not separate the glove by myself so I had to get a help from my teamates...I wish stiching were lot stronger....Still very good glove...

02-17-2011- Other Thoughts: They arrived on time for a big game and worked well. They were a size to small, but that's certainly not the manufacturer's fault. However, during a collision, my thumb was struck by somebody trying to head the ball and I couldn't move it without pain for a while.

03-23-2011- Other Thoughts: The "Fingersaves" make it harder to grip the ball but also harder to hurt your fingers. I think I'll get used to it after a couple more games (I've only played two with the gloves so far).

03-12-2011- Other Thoughts: I had a gift certificate and figured why not, especially since my old gloves were basically destroyed, and I could use the Amazon gift card to buy a Champs Sports item. Unbelievable grip on the ball, and while the fingersaves won't turn you into the hulk (you've still got to be ready and keep your fingers flexed, or you'll jam them easily) they definitely help with close saves. Time will show how well they hold up...
