About Golf Bags:

A golfer needs a golf bag to keep her clubs together and carry them from hole to hole any time she plays a course longer than a very short par-3 course (the kind that requires only a 9-iron and a putter). Golf bags are usually classified as travel bags, stand bags or cart bags
Features
- Golf bags come in many configurations, styles and colors. As a nod to popular culture, you can expect a new bag to have special compartments for your cell phone and water bottle. Stand bags tend to be the most popular style, as you can also throw one on a cart. Stand bags usually have very comfortable carrying straps, including the very popular system that goes over both shoulders
Benefits
- A stand bag is usually light weight, since the golfer will be hoofing it around the course on her back. When she sets it down, a spring mechanism pops open a stand so the bag stands upright as she plays, instead of lying on the grass. Competitive players at the high school and college level are especially inclined toward widely recognized sports brands on their bags
Size
- Because the golfer isn't going to carry it on her back, a cart bag frequently will be larger and heavier, with more compartments and room for just about everything you may want to bring with you for the day. Don't plan to carry a cart bag on your shoulders; packing around that weight will ruin your game
Function
- Golf travel bags are designed to protect your clubs from the rough treatment of airport baggage handlers and taxi drivers. They are made of tough materials and often, they have wheels to help you maneuver them through the airport or station. Some travel bags even include storage for your clothes and toiletries
Considerations
- If your storage space and life style limit you to just one bag, find a versitale model that will do everything you need it to do. If, on the other hand, you collect golf bags like some people collect hand bags, you can change your golf look every time you go out
How to Carry a Golf Bag:
To get a workout while playing golf, a golfer can walk the 18 holes he plays during a given round. However, to get the maximum workout, a golfer can carry his own bag while walking the course. A fully loaded golf bag will weigh between 15 and 30 pounds and walking an 18-hold golf course can be anywhere between 4 and 6 miles. To walk the course while carrying the bag, it must be loaded correctly
- Load the golf bag correctly. There are three sections in your bag for clubs. Load your woods and your putter in the top third of your bag. Put your long and medium irons (2 through 6) in the middle section and put your short irons (7, 8 and 9 irons and wedges) in the bottom section. Put your balls and tees in one of the zippered pockets on the side of the bag. Loading all the clubs in one section would make your bag very awkward to carry
- Carry the bag over your dominant shoulder to start off your round. The golf bag will have a padded strap and you carry it so your bag is facing forward and the strap is securely over your right shoulder. There is also a handle on the front of the bag that is directly under the strap. You can secure the bag by grasping this handle as you carry the bag
- Switch shoulders every 15 minutes or so as you carry. Your bag can get quite heavy and you will find that you may not have as much control with your opposite shoulder. However, switching shoulders when carrying your bag will help you stay loose and get the most out of your golf swing
- Check out the scorecard before you start your round. Many holes are adjacent to each other, and as you approach the green on the fourth hole, you will see that the fifth fairway is right next to it. After you have hit your fairway iron, you may want to put your bag down in the rough area between the holes and take your pitching wedge, your putter and your driver out of your bag. Finding strategic spots to put your bag down will ease your burden while carrying your bag
- Carry the bag properly throught the round. Many people will eventually start throwing clubs in their bag without putting them in the proper section. They will also try carrying it over their back. Neither of these will help you over the long run. Keep the bag over one of your shoulders

10-19-2011- Other Thoughts: This Golf Travel Bag was a gift for my husband, who wanted a light golf bag with a stand. This bag is absolutely perfect and he loves it. It is very easy to carry when he walks the course, it has plenty of storage, and has pull-out legs for standing. The price was fabulous and the best I could find anywhere. I would highly recommend it.

10-15-2011- Other Thoughts: this Golf Stand Bag is a very well made bag. I purchased it for my father for christmas, now I wish I bought myself one too. It has the perfect amount of storage, super light, extremely pleasing aesthetically, and all around impressive.

10-28-2011- Other Thoughts: Extremely happy with the weight, build, and color of the bag. The zippers do feel a bit flimsy, and I have concerns that the zippers could easily break from the pocketing, but it's not a huge concern. The backpack-style straps are really cool!
