How to Tie Hair in a Square Knot:
- Grow your hair. Your hair must be long enough that you can tie it into a square knot and still be able to get the knot out when you are done. Shoulder-length or longer hair is preferred for this hairstyle.
- Make a ponytail. You can pull your hair back into a ponytail at any point on your head that is comfortable for you. But the lower the ponytail, the easier it will be to make into a square-knot hairstyle.
- Create two sections of hair. Divide the hair in your ponytail down the middle into two thick sections. Hold onto each section with one of your hands.
- Twist your hair. Twist the section in your right hand under the section in your left, until the two sections are criss-crossed.
- Loop the sections. Reach underneath through the opening between the two sections, and pull the right section tightly through the opening.
- Repeat the loop. Loop the sections around each other in the same way, but this time, go left-over-right to finish the square knot. Pull tightly.
- Secure the knot. Use bobby pins or hair spray to secure any of the stray pieces of hair that slipped free of the square knot.
How to Tie a Simple Hair Bow:
You can tie simple hair bows to complement an outfit or to give your little girl a cute hairdo in just a few seconds once you learn the technique. Matching ribbons and bows add just the right touch to complement those frilly spring dresses or holiday taffetas. Learning to tie your own simple hair bows can save a lot of money when buy an entire roll of ribbon for the same price as one premade bow. You can use the rest of the roll of ribbon to wrap gifts. How do you tie a simple hair bow?
- Pull a 12-inch piece of ribbon halfway through a coated hair band and tie the ribbon into a knot to hold it in place on the coated hair band.
- Create a loop with one side of the ribbon.
- Wrap the second ribbon under, instead of over, to tie the bow. Wrapping the ribbon under makes the ribbon stay straight across, instead of having one loop pointing up and one loop pointing down.
- Open a pair of scissors and lay one of the ends of the ribbon against the sharp blade of the scissors. Press your thumb against the ribbon pressing it onto the blade of the scissors and pull towards the end. This will cause the ends of the ribbon to curl. Repeat this with the other loose end of the ribbon.

03-27-2011- Other Thoughts: These are a bit thicker than I had thought, but I love them. They really hold my waist length hair well and out of my face without pulling it or snagging it.

01-12-2011- Other Thoughts: I always have problems with my fat hair. lol I'm Egyptian/Indian on my dad's side and Mexican Native American on mom's. so as you might imagine... MY HAIR IS THICK AND COARSE. I have actually cried over my stupid head of hair many times before because no one has the right products for me. But these rubber bands are great. I was so skeptical because even products that say "for thick hair" wont hold my poor hair. these do :) I love the women headwear hair tie.

04-21-2011- Other Thoughts: I like to use thsi to hold a pony tail because my hair is very long, and it keeps my hair far enough away from my back so it doesn't get tangled and frizzy while I'm moving around during the day. Great buy! these are the hair elastics i have been waiting forever for.

04-09-2011- Other Thoughts: strong grip, but does not tangle with hair. held my ponytail all day! also more durable than those other fabric elastics (mine were always breaking at the seams). totally worth the price tag, especially considering that i will not need to be replacing broken ones as often!

02-21-2011- Other Thoughts: I'm a guy with long hair. I love letting my hair flow down, but on windy days this women hair tie is a good idea to wear a hair tie. Most hair ties you can pick up at the store pull on my hair and hurts with too much movement. Not to mention they feel way too tight. These retract comfortably as it takes little effort to stretch, thus letting it sit comfortably.
