How to Remove Wax From a Candleholder:

Candle wax can easily be removed from a candleholder with one or all of the following methods
- Add 1/8 inch of water to the bottom of a votive candleholder before you insert the candle. This will make wax removal easier later on
- Place washable candleholders and votives in a plastic tub of warm water to soak. The wax will loosen and can be easily removed. Stubborn pieces of wax can be pried away from the candleholder surface with a spoon or butter knife
- Place nonwashable candleholders in the freezer. This will cause the candle wax to become very brittle and easy to remove. Excess wax can be scraped off with a butter knife or spoon
- Use a commercial product, such as Goo Gone, to remove the excess candle wax. Apply the liquid to the wax with a clean cloth and allow to sit for a minute or two. Scrape off wax with a spoon or butter knife. Clean area with water and mild soap
- Cover the spoon or knife in a thin, soft cloth before you use either to scrape off wax. This will protect delicate finishes from being scratched
How to Clean Glass Candle Holders:

- Glass candle holders are used anywhere from the dining room table to the living room. When the candle wax spills onto the glass candle holders, or when you move the candle holders and leave cloudy fingerprints behind, you need to figure out the right way to best clean the glass surface. By removing the wax and using safe, non-flammable cleaning ingredients you can properly clean the glass surface
- Place cooled candle holders in the freezer if any wax has dried onto the glass surface. Let the candle holders sit in the freezer for 20 minutes, which gives the wax time to harden
- Scrape away the hard wax with a dull knife, and discard the wax
- Saturate the tip of a paper towel with white vinegar, and wipe over the glass to remove residue and fingerprints
- Wipe the glass clean with a dry area of the paper towel
How to Bead a Candle Holder:

- If you or someone you know loves candles, consider making your own beaded candle holder casings for a special touch that adds sparkle and personality to any room for any occasion. Candle holders protect candles and the things around them while the candle is burning. Decorative beads can be woven or placed around candle holders to create beaded candle holder casings. Most often, beaded candle holder casings are glass containers. While they can be applied to any candle holder, beads work best with glass votive candle holders or glass jars of about the same size
- There are different ways of creating a beaded candle holder casing. You can string beads and glue the strings to the glass candle holder, or you can use alternate safety pins and strings of beads to decorate the candle holder
- Thread beads onto cording
- Starting at the bottom of the container, place a small amount of glue on the glass on the outside of the container and press the end of the strung beads onto it
- Wrap the beaded cording around the container, gluing beads directly to the candle holder about every inch or so to make sure the beads adhere to it
- Let the glue dry completely before using the candle holder
- Safety Pin Casing
- String beads onto the safety pins
- Cut three pieces of cording. The length of the cording depends on the container you are covering.
- Thread the cording through the closed head of a safety pin, add a bead, then another pin.
- Continue step 3 until you have enough pins and beads on the cording to make it long enough to wrap around the outside of the entire container that will hold your candle
- Using another piece of cording, thread the bottom hole of the pins, adding beads and new pins in between each pin from the top row. (Bottom pin from first row, bead, bottom of new pin, bead, repeat)
- Continue step 4 until your second cording is the same length as the first one
- Repeat step 3, with the heads of the new pins. (Head pin, bead, head pin, repeat)
- Tie the ends of the cording tightly together and trim excess
- Slip your candle holder into the beaded casing and enjoy
