How to Change a Faceplate Cover?

There are two main reasons why you would want to change the housing of your cell phone faceplate. It could be out of necessity, when your cell phone housing is worn out and scratched due to constant usage, particularly along the top surface of the front faceplate cover and at the edges of the front and back covers due to constant usage. Or you might just want to get a little creative and make it look more personalized. The following instructions are for the Nokia N-Series, but are similar for many other cell phone models.

• Turn your cell phone over, and release the battery cover from the back of your cell phone. Remove the battery cover, and preferably the battery too, and set them both aside.
• Lay your cell phone upside down on a flat, dry surface. Unscrew the four screws at the back using an optical-sized Phillips screwdriver.
• Unscrew all other screws, usually two more, to separate the back cover from the front faceplate cover using an optical-sized flathead screwdriver.
• Pry open the four clips (two on either side) gently, to release the housing.
• Turn your cell phone in an upright position, and lift the lower part of the front faceplate cover to detach it from the back cover.
• Press out the keypad from the old front faceplate cover, and insert it into your new one.
• Reassemble the entire housing of your cell phone by reversing the order of steps 1 to 5.
