How to Install Cabinet Door Pulls

Cabinet door pulls are a quick and inexpensive way to update the look of your cabinets or doors. Most home improvement stores stock a wide variety of sizes and shapes constructed from a number of different materials. They are easy to install, and the pull's package often has a paper template with which to drill perfectly-placed holes. Where you install the pull is typically a matter of what is most convenient or aesthetically pleasing to your cabinet door
Instructions
- Place the flat side of the pull against the cabinet door to help you decide where you want to position the pull. Mark the location of the first screw hole. Alternatively, place the paper template provided with the pull in position on the door. Tape it securely
- Ensure that the position of the pencil mark or the paper template is level using a spirit level. Align all holes level or vertically aligned with the frame of the cabinet and with one another
- Insert a drill bit that matches the size of the pull's screws. Slowly drill the first mark or template hole from the face of the cabinet. Place a piece of scrap wood on the inside of the door to prevent the cabinet from splintering
- Measure the distance between the centers of each hole on the pull with the tape measure. Mark that distance on the cabinet front with the pencil. Drill the next hole, again using scrap wood to prevent splintering on the inside of the door
- Place the provided screws into the inside of the hole, with the cabinet pull flush on the outside of the cabinet. Tighten the screw with the screwdriver, and securely fasten the pull. Take caution not to overtighten the screw
