How to Make a Crib Tent?
If your little one is starting to climb out of his crib, but you don't feel he's quite ready for a toddler bed, installing a crib tent will keep him ensconced in his crib safe and sound. You can buy a crib tent, but if you're handy with a needle and thread (and/or a sewing machine), why not make the crib tent yourself and save a little money?
Instructions:- Sew a 2-½-inch casing all around the edge of the tulle. Stop just short of where you started so there is a small opening in the casing. Sew the ends of the elastic together if necessary.
- Put a safety pin in one end of the elastic and close the head of the pin. Put another safety pin in the other end of the elastic. Pin this end next to the opening in the casing. Push the elastic all the way through the casing using the safety pin on the free end of the elastic. Pull out the free end and attach the pin next to the already attached pin.
- Make sure there are no twists in the elastic. Take out the safety pins and sew the two ends of the elastic together. Hand sew the open end of the casing closed using needle and thread.
- Fit the tulle around the top edge of the crib. Find the middle of the tulle and hand sew one of the plastic O-rings onto that spot. Make sure the O-ring is sewn to the outside of the crib tent to prevent an accident.
- Screw the metal hook into the ceiling above the crib. Cut a piece of the piping thread long enough to reach the ceiling and pull up the middle of the tent. Tie the opposite ends of the piping thread to each of the O-rings. Attach the O-ring on the free end of the piping thread to the hook on the ceiling.

12-21-2010- Other Thoughts: Super-easy set-up and easy fold-down (the fold-down directions provided are not clear, but we got it after a few tries) It held up great on a windy day on a NC beach with the stakes down and sand in the sides. It was also very comfortable inside even with just the one window and door. It is big enough for an adult to sit-up in which was helpful for discrete breastfeeding.

02-08-2011- Other Thoughts: This tent is exactly what I wanted. Perfect size, not too big but enough room for my 3 month old to lounge, and even for my toddler to go in and hang out for awhile. I bought this for a beach vacation and it does come with plastic stakes to hold it down which will be necessary...the product is very lightweight. Opening it is easy, closing isn't too bad either, folds up like car windowshades. It fits nicely into a round zipper case not much larger than a frisbee! Also, very happy with this seller.....arrived in 3 business days. Can't wait to use it!

12-08-2010- Other Thoughts: We used this recently at the beach for our four-month-old, to keep her out of the sun. She was even able to nap in it. It was not windy at all, so I cannot speak to how well it stays in place in the wind (I imagine not well without tent tacks, which are not included). Our daughter could even get breastfed inside of it, privately. A very good product!
