Safety Considerations:
Laser pointers are effective tools when used properly. The following considerations should be observed when using laser pointers:
- Never look directly into the laser beam
- Never point a laser beam at a person
- Do not aim the laser at reflective surfaces
- Never view a laser pointer using an optical instrument, such as binocular or a microscope
- Do not allow children to use laser pointers unless under the supervision of an adult
Use only laser pointers meeting the following criteria:
- Labeled with FDA certification stating "DANGER: Laser Radiation" for Class 3R lasers or "CAUTION: Laser Radiation" for Class 2 pointers
- Classified as Class 2 or 3R according to the label. Do not use Class 3b or 4 products
- Operate at a wavelength between 630 nm and 680 nm
- Have a maximum output less than 5 MW, the lower the better
NOTE:
- The laser can be bright enough when you light it in normal temperature, so you had better not light it continually over 30 seconds
- When do not use it, please take off the battery from the laser in order to avoid the damage
- In some countries these laser pointers (especially the higher powered ones) may be illegal to own and/or use. Therefore, you (the customer) accept all responsibly and liability to determine and fulfill the requirements and limitations of use or resale of these products in accordance with your country's laws and regulations. In the event of resale, you also need to agree to incorporate this notation in the product description, so that any potential buyer can be well informed before make a purchasing decision
Stage Lighting Pointers:
Lighting a stage properly is a major part in bringing theater shows to life. As with any production, lighting a stage is a team effort and must be coordinated with the lighting staff, technical director and the director in order to be successful. The way a scene is lit enhances the feel of the piece and promotes a sense of mood. Lighting designers should ensure that actors and their actions are not in shadow, and that neither the light or dark areas are distracting to an audience. There are several techniques to make sure a stage is lit to enhance the action on the stage
Color- Lighting a scene with a variety of colors can enhance the theater experience for the audience. Color evokes emotion in ways little else can. There are three colors used most often in theater: red, blue and green. Known as the primary colors of lighting, red, blue and green are then built upon to create different colors and effects
- Combining two primary colors create what is called a secondary color, while mixing a primary and secondary color creates white light. For additional color options, gels are thin pieces of plastic that can be placed over a bulb to create different colors. Gels are available in thousands of different shades and are an inexpensive way to set a mood on stage
Lighting arrangements
- In theater, as in other areas of production, lighting can be arranged in several different ways. There are three primary positions for lights: front, side and down. Front lighting is more commonly seen as a spotlight. Its primary purpose is to provide visibility and add color. It is also directs focus to an individual or set piece. The front light should be angled toward the stage between 30 to 50 degrees
- Generally used with bold colors, side lighting works to accent specific movements or provide contrast in colors
- Down lighting creates the illusion of depth and works as a spotlight to isolate individuals on stage. Additionally, back lighting creates a feeling of depth, but must be used carefully. When used from a low angle, the back light will create a silhouette, but placing it at audience eye level makes for uncomfortable viewing for the audience
Equipment
- Quality equipment is an important aspect of being an effective theater lighting technician. Lighting staff must be knowledgeable about the field and flexible enough to solve problems and create solutions. An ellipsoidal is a prominent tool in the theater world. Its primary function is to create focus in lights and to soften or cut off a beam if necessary
- A Fresnel is normally used to create a color wash, using a built-in track to change the strength of the beam. The edge of the light on a Fresnel is always soft, but combining it with an ellipsoidal can alter that
- An important piece of equipment in every theatre is a Par Can. Par Cans produce a broad, strong beam that can light a large area. These are easy to work with and easy to focus, and are common with traveling shows, concerts and the like
How to Make a Laser Light Show:

If you want to create your own laser light show, then follow these steps to get started. You see these type of laser light shows at concerts and other events, and they add an electric vibe of energy to the mix. Your laser light show can be completely of your own creation with unique lasers and color of lights. Learn how you can make a laser light show
- Get your loud speaker and your rubber cement. Place some of the rubber cement on the back of the small mirror and then attach the small mirror to the middle of your speaker
- Take the speaker wires and connect them to the speaker terminals. Be careful as you do this step and make sure attach them properly to the speaker so that the sound will travel through
- Grab the other end of the speaker wires and attach them to the stereo speaker. Get some tape and place in on the laser pointer button to keep it permanently held down
- Start your laser light show by aiming the laser at the little mirror you have attached to the smaller speaker. Find out where the light bounces off too
- Keep adjusting the speakers so that the laser aims at a wall. Once it is on the wall, make sure both the speaker and laser are propped up on their own
- Turn on your stereo and the vibrations will make your laser move and make cool patterns. The vibrations will make the mirror reflect different shapes in your laser stream
