How to Remove a Lens Cap:

    • A standard lens cover usually comes with a camera. Smaller digital point-and-shoot cameras like Nikon Coolpix or the Canon Powershot typically have lens covers that automatically retract when you click the power button. Larger SLR and digital SLR cameras, like the Canon Rebel, typically have removable lens caps that come with the camera. On these cameras, you will need to remove the lens cap before you can take a picture. Overall, the cap is a valuable asset to a camera, as it protects the lens from getting scratches or dirt on the it when it is not in use.

    Instructions:

    • Be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you will not be able to drop the lens cap off a cliff or drop it in someone's drink by accident. Take the lens cap off before turning the camera on. Sometimes the lens cap will pop off the camera and damage the cap.
    • Grab hold of your camera so that it won't fall out of your hands by placing your right hand under the camera to get a firm grip. You can also put the camera's strap around your neck for security.
    • Place your forefinger and the thumb of your free hand around the cap. Many lens caps have two small latches across from each other. If that is the case, press the latches in toward each other.
    • Pull off the lens cap and start taking photographs. Put your lens cap somewhere you will remember.
    • Replace the lens cap after each use. It will protect your lens from getting dirty or cracked

    Package Included:

    • 1 x 52mm White Balance Lens Filter Cap

pleasantly pleased
00:00:00 02-24-2011
I bought this product because I didn't want to spend over dollars for a like product. I figured if it was junk I wasn't out much money. To my surprise it was very easy to use and really helps you get the correct white balance. The only downside is the connector rings being made of plastic are hard to install on a few of my lenses and sometimes pop off when taking the cap off to shoot pics. If you're looking for an easy way to get the correct white balance this is a great tool. I actually use the larger cap for my smaller lenses by just holding it in place while I snap the test photo. This way I don't have to unscrew the cap to put on filters.

Great and still cheap
00:00:00 02-10-2011
This is a great product at low price. I have tried the other white balance lens cap with a brand name and I would say this does the same thing. It makes a great difference between the use of this product and the normal shoot with the auto white balance or any other adjustments.

Very good price for what I need
00:00:00 01-18-2011
I purchase this Front Lens Cap just to try the effect. But it seems that this is what I'm looking for. The result of the pics is better than the gray paper or white paper that I'm using currently for the manual white balance. Plus the price is so reasonable. I recomend this item.

Might not work for telephoto zooms with extra filters
00:00:00 01-10-2011
The adapter screws onto your lens like an extra filter, which is great, unless you have other filters in place (like the UV protection one)... which is the case for me.

If you don't mind losing the corners of your pictures, or you don't have a telephoto lens that would be similarly affected, this will work great.

I have not tried white balancing with this, but noticed the embossed letters might cause a darkened area in the middle that's slightly more gray.

Must have for every photographer
00:00:00 12-21-2010
This is a great 52mm Lens Cap, and makes a huge difference in the quality of your photos. It comes with two parts, one screws on to the end of your lens, the other is the actual white cap. I have noticed that for some wide angle lenses that you cannot keep the attachment on the lens as it may stick out too much, but I haven't had that issue with my other lenses. Also if you are using a lens hood, you may find it a slight hastle to take the hood on and off to balance the camera, but it is definately worth the better picture. Also for the price you really can't go wrong.

You Get What You Pay For
00:00:00 12-06-2010
After my original lens cap went missing, I figured I'd give this one a shot as a replacement considering that it's only nine bucks and it offers the ability to white balance. So far, it's definitely been worth the money, albeit not without its faults.

It does feel a little cheap, as it's mostly made of thin plastic, but so far it's been pretty sturdy. The ring that screws into the lens itself is kind of a bitch to get on or off, but I think that might be a purposeful design decision so you don't lose the dang thing. The lanyard on the cap is nice for keeping track of said cap, but if you don't hang on to it anyway it usually gets in the way, so most of the time it's not worth it. When it comes down to white balancing, though, I haven't found anything that works as well. Maybe I'm just a stupid idiot who's bad at things, but using a white balance card always takes me way too long and often ends up being slightly off if I don't redo it after every shot. Either way, this cap makes it way easier on me.

This Lens Cap Cover is worth to you will definitely depend on how much white balancing you do. On my dSLR I usually set white balance on Auto and then tweak it in post if need be, but I've found that when I'm doing video projects for school, it's the best investment I've made in terms of simplifying my shoots since everything is manual on the video side of thing. It's not perfect, but it's most definitely worth the [...] (assuming the price hasn't fluctuated by the time you're reading this).

get the color right
00:00:00 11-18-2010
I don't use it all the time, as auto white balance on the camera is usually pretty good. But it's very useful when lighting is tricky and I prefer to use manual white balance to get the color right. It works like a charm. You can screw on the ring and use this as a Front Lens Cap that easily attaches and detaches. I am not sure about the strap though, it's a bit short.

This is the most useful accessory I bought for my Nikon D80
00:00:00 11-09-2010
In addition to registering a very accurate white balance for each scene, this thing also can be used for setting the correct exposure. I was totally blown away by this little discovery and a great trick. This little thing allows you to turn your camera into a spot light meter and saves you $$$!
Good luck!
