How to Repair a Levitating Globe:
Levitating globes defy gravity by hovering directly underneath a magnet. They achieve this by having just enough weight underneath a light piece of metal to resist the magnets pull just enough to not fall to the ground. The magnet therein holds the globe in place hovering above a non-magnetic base. After years of use, a levitating globe can run into problems that would cause it to not work. These problems can include the magnet becoming demagnetized and the globe building up debris on the inside making it too heavy to float.- Undo the top part of the levitating globe assembly with your screwdriver. This is where the magnet is located.
- Identify the kind of magnet being used in your levitating globe.
- Remove the magnet and place it up against something metal. If the magnet does not stick then you need to replace it. If it does stick then your problem is the weight distribution within your globe itself.
- Twist open your globe and clean the insides of both halves of the globe. Typically if the magnet is not the problem then the weight distribution inside of the globe has become too great for the magnet to lift. This happens when dirt or debris gets inside of the globe.
- Replace your magnet and re-screw your globe's two halves back together. Plug it in and turn it on and your levitating globe should work as well as it did before.

12-23-2010- Other Thoughts: I just received this as a birthday present and its great. I spun it 10 minutes ago and its still spinning at its original speed. After a few minutes of reading through the instructions, I balanced the globe in the center and it floated with no problem.
