How to Remove a Lens Cap:

    Camera Lens Ca

A standard lens cover usually comes with a camera. Smaller digital point-and-shoot cameras like Nikon Coolpix or the Canon Powershot typically have lens covers that automatically retract when you click the power button. Larger SLR and digital SLR cameras, like the Canon Rebel, typically have removable lens caps that come with the camera. On these cameras, you will need to remove the lens cap before you can take a picture. Overall, the cap is a valuable asset to a camera, as it protects the lens from getting scratches or dirt on the it when it is not in use.

    •  Be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you will not be able to drop the lens cap off a cliff or drop it in someone's drink by accident. Take the lens cap off before turning the camera on. Sometimes the lens cap will pop off the camera and damage the cap.
    • Grab hold of your camera so that it won't fall out of your hands by placing your right hand under the camera to get a firm grip. You can also put the camera's strap around your neck for security.
    • Place your forefinger and the thumb of your free hand around the cap. Many lens caps have two small latches across from each other. If that is the case, press the latches in toward each other.
    • Pull off the lens cap and start taking photographs. Put your lens cap somewhere you will remember.
    • Replace the lens cap after each use. It will protect your lens from getting dirty or cracked

    Tips and Warning:

MASSA Durable 58mm Snap-on Front Lens Cover Cap for Filter Hood LC-58

    • Most smaller cameras have a built-in lens cap. Larger cameras usually have lens caps. Many SLR cameras have different lenses that hook up to the camera. Therefore, you will have two lens caps. Take both off before use and put both on after using the camera. You can buy replacement lens caps from the lens manufacturer or an online camera supply store.
    • Do not subject your camera or lens cap to extreme heat.

No Substitute for the Original

This Camera Lens Cap snaps on nicely. What else can I say? It performs just as you would expect a lens cap to perform.

Good fit

I lost the original in a crowded place when I was bumped by a big person. This one fits a lot better and has not poped out even in a similar situation.

Does the job!

A review of a lens cap. I have to say I like the way the this 58mm lens cap works and how easy it is to take it off and replace it. Because the mechanism for releasing the cap is triggered by squeezing the pieces on the front of the cap, it is nearly impossible to end up with a slipping finger to mark-up the glass on the front of your lens. The cap stays on securely and protects the lens, as necessary.

nice Lens Cap
00:00:00 10-24-2011
Lost my front lens cap while on a cruise and tried to purchase one locally at a port. First finding the correct size was next to impossible and the price was astronomical. I decided to pass up those opportunities and wait until I returned. I purchased the Nikon lens cap which was a replacement and it works great. Great quality and fit.

Quality is good, as it is from Canon
00:00:00 10-12-2011
It's good as my title says, however, I found one con about it is there is no place I can put a string on it so that I have to put it in my pocket when I take it off.

Good item

The Front Lens Cap itself is in good condition; however, the packaging is simple and cheap, in a small stabled plastic bag, which made me wonder how Canon could sell its product like this..

Great cap...forgetful photographer
00:00:00 09-15-2011
These are great caps for me and I haven't had any trouble with them staying on, albeit all my lenses are Canon. The problem is that I take them off and forget where I laid it or, in one case, I put one in my pocket and forgot it...didn't fare well in the dryer!!! The only smart thing I have done is order an extra and keep it in a zippered pocket in my case...now if I don't forget where the extra is. :)
