Burning Matches:

How to Waterproof Matches:- Use the brush from the clear nail polish to coat the striking tip of the wooden matches. Make sure the tip is completely covered. Place the matches into a styrofoam eggcarton, or some other material to keep the painted tips sticking up. Don't touch the painted tips
- Let the matches dry completely. Then add another coat of clear nail polish. Let the matches dry overnight
- The next day, take a match from the egg carton or other container and dip it in some water. After dipping it in water, try to light the match. It will ignite
How to Light a Match:
- Hold a wooden match between two fingers of one hand and hold the match box in the other. Push the wooden match along side of box while holding the match between your thumb and two forefingers flicking it quickly as you move. You will see the flame start
- Light a wooden match a second way by striking it on a rock. Hold it with one hand and flick it quickly against the rock
- Place a wooden match over a candle until it catches alight from the flame
- Strike paper matches by flicking them quickly across the match box or match book. Open the match book and pull off a match from the pack of matches. Hold it between your thumb and first two fingers
- Move the match across the back of the match book starting near you and moving it away from you. Watch the flame start
- Light one match and then hold it carefully in one hand. Pull out a second match and place it close to the first match until it catches light
How to Relight a Used Match:
- Whittle away some of the wood on the match near the burn end with a sharp knife to make it narrower, but not so narrow that the match breaks when you strike it. Do it on the top half of the match next to the burn end
- Color the match with the black felt pen all the way around on the narrowed area. This makes the match look like it has been burned. Do this to several matches and store them in the box
- Do your relight a used match trick for a friend or at a party. Rub the striking end of your match around on the wax of the candle before doing the trick. This helps the match to stay lit by providing it with a little paraffin for fuel
- Strike the match on the side of the match box and light the candle. Repeat the process with several matches and candles, if you like
- Light a regular match before performing the trick if you like to make your trick more dramatic. Make sure you remember to secretly switch it to one of the trick matches before you show how you can relight it
Tips & Warnings:
- How does it work? The nail polish coats the chemicals on the match tip and seals them. Since the nail polish is a hard substance, it creates a barrier to moisture, like a raincoat. When the match is struck, the polish is scratched away, allowing the chemicals to ignite as the normally do
- Be Careful Using Matches
- Don't press too hard or you will break the match
- Watch for sparks
- Don't hold the match for too long or you will burn your fingers as it burns down

10-14-2011- Pros: Just a little unusual to use such a flint, after a little practice all turns out very cool.Nu a given price at least 2 times less than in the shops - the choice is obvious for the tourist. For a gift for friends, too.
- Other Thoughts: None!

05-19-2011- Other Thoughts: A bit more expensive than retail, but the shipping was FAST and made up for it. Besides, these are so hard to find and I need them to help quit smoking. Very satisfied.

05-13-2011- Other Thoughts: I bought these for a survival kit i was putting together. I tried them when i got them to make sure they worked. I ran water over about a half dozen of them and let them set for 5 minutes. They still lit. I then ran water over another half dozen and tried lighting them right away. Still no problem. i have to admit that I haven't tried to light them outside yet, though.
