How to Wear Maternity Pants
There are many different styles of maternity pants that you can choose from. You have the option of buying work maternity pants, casual maternity pants and pants that you can exercise in during your pregnancy. There are a few things you should keep in mind when wearing maternity pants.
Instructions- Wear maternity pants that are made from a comfortable material. Cargo pants are durable and flatter a pregnant woman's figure.
- Pick a panel type for the pants. Maternity pants come with belly panels to accommodate women at different stages of their pregnancy. No-panel and semi-panel styles can be worn by women in the earlier stages of pregnancy. Full-panel pants are worn during the later months.
- Compare sizes. Sizing charts at maternity stores will help you figure out what size pants that you should be wearing. You will look at your pre-pregnancy size and then check to see what maternity size you should be wearing.
- Buy pants that are suitable for the season. If you are going to be showing more in the colder months, purchase heavier pants like khakis. For warmer months, wear capri pants and cropped styles.
- Consider drawstring pants. Maternity pants that are drawstrings can be worn throughout the early and advanced stages of your pregnancy.

DIY Maternity Pants
- Wear your regular tops as long as they provide enough coverage.
Why buy clothes you will only wear a few months? Turn some of your current clothes into maternity clothes and buy new clothes after the baby comes. Fabric stores sell stretch panels with an elastic waist that can be sewn in to replace the front of any pair of pants. They are called maternity panels.The panels will stretch as you grow, so your pants will fit throughout your entire pregnancy.
Instructions- Lay the pants out on a flat surface with the front side up.
- Fold the panel in half from top to bottom, and align the fold with the center seam of the pants. Align the elastic waist of the panel with the waist of the pants. Unfold the panel, keeping the elastic waist along the waist of the pants.
- Trace the edge of the panel onto the pants with a fabric marker.
- Remove the panel and trace a line 1/2 inch inside the first line you traced. This adds a seam allowance.
- Cut the front of the pants out along the inner line.
- Turn the pants inside-out and pin edges of the panel to the cut edges of the pants, with the right sides together.
- Sew the panel in the pants with a 1/2-inch seam allowance. Zigzag or overcast the seam allowance to finish the seam. This will make the seam stronger.

I am on my third pregnancy and I own every style of maternity pants, high panel, low pandel, extra stretchy waist band. This has been the best solution.
