How to Secure an SDHC Digital Memory Card?

SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) cards are data storage media that can be used in a wide variety of electronic devices, such as digital cameras, computers and some MP3 players. The cards can store up to 32 GB (GigaBytes) of data on a space a little larger than a postage stamp. If the data on your SDHC card is valuable to you, there may be times when you want to secure it against being deleted or overwritten. The cards have a write-protect switch for this purpose

Instructions

• Turn off the device you are using the SDHC card within and remove the card
• Turn the card over so you are looking at the non-label side with the bronze chips facing downward
• Slide the small switch on the lower left side of the card upward until it clicks
• Replace the card into the device you are using it with. Data on the card can now be viewed, but not deleted, added to or overwritten until the write-protect switch is pushed downward

• Import files from the card to your computer or open a folder to view the files. Now your card reader should automatically recognize the files and give these options in a pop-up window.

Turn the device on
