    How to Use XBox 360 Hard Drive

    The Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive adds functionality to the home video game console. Installing a hard drive on your Xbox 360 allows you to save games and movies. You'll also be able to install a large number of Xbox Live Arcade games and add-on game content as well. Having a hard drive on your Xbox 360 will also give you the ability to install your full games to decrease the loading times necessary to play the game. Microsoft offers 20, 60 and 120 GB versions of its hardware.

    • Verify that your game has been saved, if applicable, and turn off your Xbox 360.
    • Take off the hard drive bay cover from the Xbox 360. The hard drive bay is located on the left side of the console. Place the hard drive over the hard drive bay with the narrow end facing toward the front of the Xbox 360.
    • Place the ridge on the back end of the hard drive under the lip on the back of the hard drive bay. Press the front of the hard drive down until the hard drive clicks into place.

    How to Transfer Data to Xbox 360 Elite?

    You can transfer saved games and some downloaded content from your old Xbox 360 to your new Elite's 120GB hard drive. You can use a memory card and copy a little at a time, but the faster method is to use the Microsoft Data Migration Kit and transfer all content at once. Some licenses do not transfer so you have to connect to Xbox LIVE to watch that transferred content.

    • Acquire the Data Migration Kit. It includes the necessary cable and CD to transfer data from the Xbox 360 20GB hard drive to the Elite's 120GB hard drive. Complete the order form on the Microsoft website to get a free transfer kit or check if you can buy it online.
    • Unplug all accessories from the Xbox Elite. Connect a controller that is needed to follow the onscreen instructions during the transfer process.
    • Turn the power off and remove the hard drives from both consoles.
    • Install the 20GB hard drive containing all your data into the Elite Xbox. Turn on the Elite system and make sure the controller is working.
    • Connect one end of the transfer cable to the 120GB hard drive and the other end to the rear USB port on the Elite.
    • Insert the transfer CD and follow the onscreen instructions. The transfer can take a few minutes or up to an hour, depending on how much content is on your 20GB hard drive.
    • Disconnect the cable when the transfer is complete. Remove the 20GB hard drive from the Elite system and reinstall the 120GB hard drive.

We received it quickly. This XBOX 360 20GB HDD has a scratch on the top but it doesn't affect the performance. My son says it works fine with his Xbox 360.

This XBOX 360 20GB HDD is a great item for those of you that keep filling up your 360's hard drive. I had all of the Rock Band and Guitar Hero's on my 120 hard drive and wanted to add my extra games on to it and download videos but always was deliting stuff as there was never enough room but now with this extra space i have lots of room to download and install the extra items i need.

Item as described, now have massive capacity on the xbox to rival the PS3, my only gripe is that you cannot change the drive in the chassis yourself which would mean you could upgrade for a lower price possibly. Otherwise excellent purchase!

Ordered Xbox360 20G HDD when it was cheap here and got it like 7 days later in perfect condition. Very easy to mount on console and easy to transfer files from my old drive (60G). This 20G HDD comes with transfer cables! <br/>I finally can istall all my games on disk and play it when i want it without waiting 15 minutes to instal it every time. <br/>Would buy again.

A high quality Microsoft product as you'd expect and the extra space was a godsend for me, as I still had my original 20GB hard drive, which was almost full just from the extra map packs and Xbox Live Arcade games I've accumulated over the years.
