Coin Bank Ideas:
Coin banks are one way to help consolidate all the spare change you have lying around, and are useful for teaching kids how to save up their money. You can try a variety of coin bank ideas to make your own cute or personalized coin banks.- Bottle Piggy Bank: Take an old 2-liter bottle and turn it into a classic piggy bank coin saver. Paper mache the entire bottle, and add a few thick layers around the bottle neck and cap to make a thick snout. Glue four corks onto one side of the bottle to serve as feet and stand your piggy up. Spray paint the corks and bottle pink and cut out ears and eyes to glue to it. Cut a slit atop your piggy's back with a serrated knife and you've got a sturdy piggy bank.
- Coffee Can Coin Bank: Old coffee cans are useful for coin banks too, and you can decorate them a variety of ways. Take off the lids and cut a slit into the center of them for coins to go through. Paint or paper mache cans and lids as you like and you have a decorative coin bank that you can use over and over, unlike a piggy bank which you traditionally break up to retrieve money.
- Plastic Bottle Bank: Another 2-liter bottle idea is to simply paint your bottle with spray paint and acrylic latex paint, painting the lid and bottle separately. Cut a slit on the top slanted part of the bottle near the lid and put cap on. You can now fill the bottle with coins, pour coins out of the top of the bottle, re-seal the lid and re-use as many times as you want.
- Flower Pot Bank: Make a floral coin bank that can serve as a decorative floral piece and hidden bank. Paint a coffee can to look like a flower pot, and paint the lid brown to resemble soil. Cut a slit in the center of the lid as you did before, and poke holes around the slit randomly all over the lid. Stick fake flowers in the hole and put the lid on the can, then you can secretly put coins in your decorative flowerpot coin bank.

01-05-2011- Other Thoughts: My granddaughter and I searched high and low for a good, classical bank. It was surprisingly difficult to find one that wasn't tacky or that didn't look cheap. This saving money bank was more expensive than others, but is a quality product.

03-29-2011- Other Thoughts: I bought this "bank" for my grand daughter, because she had one and she broke it. She loved it. I do wish it could be made out of something that isn't breakable, because she is just 3 and can't actually carry it around.

03-09-2011- Other Thoughts: I purchased the plush money pot. They are both so cool.
The colors are bright and really cheerful and of great quality, especially for the price.
If you don't use it for saving money, it works great as a cute conversation piece.
Everyone ask me where I bought the adorable bank. I think all of my friends own one now....

02-28-2011- Other Thoughts: I ordered this poop Bank for my granddaughter. It is well made, bright, crisp colors. Worth the price. I thought the bank would be bigger than it was so if you're looking for something to hold a lot of change, look elsewhere.
