How to Install Hori Screen Protectors for the DSi:
- The Nintendo DSi, released in 2009, and Nintendo DSi XL, released in 2010, are portable gaming systems with two screens. If you have young children, protecting the screens from damage such as scratches should be your top priority. The Hori screen protector for the DSi and DSi XL includes a protective film for the top and bottom screens for your system. Proper installation of the Hori screen protectors is necessary to avoid damage to the screens you are trying to protect
- Wipe both the top and bottom screens with a soft cloth
- Grab the round tab of the clear screen protector and separate the screen from the backing
- Place the screen protector on the top screen of your Nintendo DSi or DSi XL. Align the screen protector to the edges of the screen
- Use the soft cloth to gently press the screen protector onto the screen in a left to right motion. This will ensure that no air bubbles get caught between the Nintendo DSi's screen and the Hori screen protector
- Grab the blue tab on the screen protector and carefully peel the front cover off
- Repeat these steps with the blue screen protector on the bottom screen of your Nintendo DSi or DSi XL
Usage:
- The first step, clean the screen
- The second part, to protect the membrane labeled "1" of outer torn from the side of the screen to the other side of the screen to paste
- Third, marked "2" tore off the packaging layer to complete
How to Apply the Nintendo DS Screen Protector:
- Use the cloth that comes with the LCD screen protector kit to wipe down both of the screens on your Nintendo DS handheld. Applying screen protectors to dirty screens will trap the dirt on the screen and obstruct vision
- Take out a screen protector. The screen protector has plastic film on each side that must be removed. Note the little tab in one of the corners. Fold the tab back to allow the plastic film on the opposite side to pop up at the corner
- Grab the corner of the plastic film and pull it free from the backing. The other side with the tab will still have plastic film on it
- Lay the side without the plastic cover on it over the top screen. Make sure that it is aligned on all four sides
- Pull the tab back allowing the top layer of plastic film to come off along with the tab
- Run the edge of a credit card over the screen protector to remove any bubbles
- Repeat to place a screen protector on the bottom screen
How to Remove Protector Sheets From a Nintendo DS Lite:
- Turn the Nintendo DS Lite off
- Slide your fingernail under an edge of the protector sheet on the screen
- Peel the protector completely off the screen. Pull slowly to ensure you do not rip the protector sheet or cause damage to the DS Lite screen. Discard the protector screen
How to Protect the Nintendo DS Lite Screen:
- Place the Nintendo DS Lite in a case made specifically for your model. Nintendo offers many styles of cases found online or in the video game accessories section of department stores. Using one of these cases will ensure that your DS won't accidentally open up and become cracked or scratched as it rides with other items in a handbag or backpack. In "Care and Maintenance of Portable Systems," Nintendo emphasizes that not using a case will most likely shorten the life of the screen and system
- Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth. "How to Clean LCD Screens" by Clean LCDs directs users to resist grabbing a paper towel moistened with water to clean the screen. Paper towels can scratch the screen. Tap water also has damaging properties. Use a soft microfiber cloth to carefully wipe the screen of dust and debris. If smudges appear, spritz the cloth with a solution of half distilled water and half isopropyl alcohol and wipe the screen. Never spray cleaner directly on the screen
- Use only an electronic stylus on the Nintendo DS Lite screen. If the original is lost, a replacement can be purchased for much less than the cost of replacing a scratched screen. Resist the temptation to use a pen or fingernail in place of a lost stylus
- Install screen protectors on the Nintendo DS Lite. Acquire the correct size screen protectors for your DS model online or from the video game accessories section of a department store. Follow the directions to apply these transparent plastic sheets over the screens to protect them from scratches. Installation is simple and quick. The screen protector is the best way to prevent damage to your Nintendo DS Lite screen

05-05-2011- Other Thoughts: I've used other protective filters for the DS and DSi and none compare to the Hori brand. I replaced all of them with the Hori filters b/c it fits great and doesn't leave any residue when removed. At first I didn't like that the filter size was a bit smaller than the screen but I realized after trial and error that it's for the purpose of easy removal. I did ruin the 1st Hori filter I installed b/c I didn't follow instructions. I was trying to reposition the filter on the bottom screen b/c it was crooked and instead of using scotch tape to pick up the filter's edge, I used my fingernails to scratch it up...that of course bent the edge. Overall it is a good product.

04-01-2011- Other Thoughts: I typically buy Hori screen protectors when they are available. We used them on our DS Lite's and again on our DSi's (although we had more problems, strangely, with the regular DSi ones). This DSIXL went on just fine with no problems. As has been previously stated you need to read the directions fully. <br/> <br/>A great value for your money as this helps to protect your screen. Hori protectors generally last us one year or so (the kids and I) so we put new ones on every year. I consider it a must have investment for our Nintendo handhelds!

03-31-2011- Other Thoughts: I had trouble the first time I put filters on my DS Lite, and I was that problem. I didn't pay enough attention to the directions. <br/> <br/>These went on extremely easily the first time on each screen and with absolutely no bubbles. The filter is slightly smaller than the screen. This is good and helped keep out the bubbles since the filter wasn't right up against the frame. <br/> <br/>That's how easily things should install. Good job, Hori.

03-23-2011- Other Thoughts: I've been using screen filters/protectors for years and I've complained every time I have had to place one on anything. However, after placing this on my DSi yesterday I would have to say this is one of the easiest to place on the device, very clean application.

02-17-2011- Other Thoughts: When I first opened this item and after reading the instructions I peeled off the plastic protecting the screen filter only to realize the filter itself was already covered in dust, so that took a while to deal with, also assuming I understood the instructions correctly I was supposed to clean my screen off before putting the filter on by using the included cloth, but no matter how lightly I pressed it would make small scratches in my screen, by the end of the whole process I managed to get most of the dust off but some of it wont come off the filter but that doesn't seem to affect gameplay, so now that it is on it's doing a good job of protecting the screen from dust and scratches but I didn't give it a great score because of the problems beforehand.
