How to Use & Care for a DSLR Camera?
While the act of cleaning your digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera may not be different from cleaning a film SLR camera, the use of a digital SLR is a departure from using a film SLR and from using a point-and-click digital camera. While there are dozens of settings and features to be explored in a digital SLR, there are basics to using your camera.
Using Your DSLR:
- Insert an appropriate memory card. Digital SLR cameras take large, high-definition photos, which will take up more memory than a compact digital camera. The card you purchase depends on what kind of card your camera uses; some use the larger Compact Flash cards, and others will use SD (or SDHC) cards. How much memory you use depends on how many pictures you intend to take, how often you intend to clear your memory card, and your personal budget.
- Charge your battery completely before the first use. Your digital SLR camera came with a battery and charger. Purchase an additional battery to keep in your camera bag, so you can switch out your first battery when it gets low.
- Set your exposure appropriately for your environment. If there's a lot of natural light, or if you're using the flash, you can set the ISO to 100 or 200; if you're in a low-light or night time environment, turn your ISO to the highest setting. Lower numbers equate to less light sensitivity, and the lower the ISO, the higher quality the image.
- Twist the focusing ring of the lens until the image comes into focus. How the lens focuses depends entirely on the type of lens. Set the lens to its automatic focus setting and press the shutter button half way to initiate autofocus.
- Depress the shutter button all the way to take a picture.
Caring for Your DSLR:
- Regularly clean your lens with a lint-free cloth; using towels or the bottom of the shirt can cause scratches on your lens, which can affect the quality of your pictures. Use a lens cap when your camera isn't in use to protect your lens.
- Transport and store your camera in a structured camera bag with a soft inside; this will protect your camera both from the environment and from falls. When not in use, store your camera where it's safe from falls or being damaged accidentally.
- Store your camera out of extreme heat or cold; avoiding leaving it stored in your car any longer than necessary. If you live in a humid area, purchase an air-tight storage box for your camera and accessories.
- Clean the inside of your camera with air to remove dust from the components; do not use chemicals or a cloth, as these can be too abrasive and damage internal parts. To clean the inside of the camera, lock the camera's mirrors up; consult your user's manual for details on how to lock your mirrors as the method varies per camera.

03-29-2011- Other Thoughts: This bag seems to be very well made. It has got more than enough room for everything and then some. I can't put this in my bag and go anymore, but I knew that when I got a bigger camera. I see no drawbacks to this bag. I can stick all my stuff in this one bag that I am going to need while I am out and about. And I still have room for more. It will come in very handy at the zoo and aquariums.

03-02-2011- Other Thoughts: I first bought it and then later found that got it for cheapter and I returned the product on the same day to Fry's and ordered the one.

I got a Canon Rebel XSi with the basic lense 18 -55 and 55 -300 .all accessories battery charges, lens filters .. It has nice shock absorbing system for holding the camera in the main compartment. Main compartment is big enough to hold camera regardless of the lens it wears.
