Definition of a Camera Shutter Release:

    • Camera Basics - The two main components that work together on a camera is the aperture and shutter speed. The aperture controls how much light is let into the camera body, hitting the film/sensors, while the shutter speed dictates how long the light lasts
    • Shutter Speed - Within the camera body is a mechanism that controls how long the film/sensors are exposed to the light. In low light situations, the shutter is open for longer. In bright light, the shutter opens and closes in a fraction of a second
    • Shutter Release Cables - A shutter release cable connects to the camera and allows the photographer to take a photograph without having to touch the camera. In manual, 35 mm cameras, with no electronic controls, a wire with in the cable was pushed out to press down on the shutter release button. In modern cameras with electronic controls, the shutter release cable sends an electrical signal telling the camera to operate the shutter and take the photograph
    • Low Light - In low light situations in which the shutter in the camera remains open for a longer period of time, any movement of the camera during the exposure will result in a fuzzy or blurry photograph. A tripod is employed in low light situations and a shutter release cable is used to further minimize any potential movement of the camera during the exposure
    • Other Uses - Portrait photographers will often use a shutter release cable when they take portraits. It is easier for subjects to have a person to connect with when the portrait is being taken than just being asked to sit still, smile and look at the camera. The photographer can easily interact with his subjects, resulting in more natural, relaxed portraits

    User Guide:

    • Attachment into the camera's hot shoe with hot shoe nut
    • Receiver attached to the camera's shoe when radio triggering with the transmitter for operation
    • Avaible to use the receiver as a transmitter
    • Also works without the battery when using the receiver as a remote cable

How to Build a Wireless Remote Control:

    • Open the remote control housing and place a push button switch on the side. In the upper right corner of the housing, fasten a 3-volt battery holder. Be sure enough room is available to install and remove the battery
    • Run a wire from the push button switch and link to the 3-volt battery holder at the negative connection. Attach another wire to the push button switch and lead it to the Meg 1/4W resistor and the NPN silicon transistor. Run a third wire from the Meg 1/4W resistor and attach it to the 22K 1/4W resistor and and the PNP silicon transistor
    • Position the infra-red LED on the front of the housing. Attach the LED and run wires to both transistors. From the 22K 1/4W resistor, run a wire to the C220.01uF 16v ceramic disk capacitor. Run another wire between the NPN silicon transistor and the ceramic disk capacitor
    • From the positive connector on the 3-volt battery holder, connect a wire to the PNP silicon transistor. This will allow for proper current flow in a closed circuit. Ensure the push button switch is positioned to "off" and place a 3-volt battery into the holder. Close the remote control housing
    • Point the remote control at a receiver, making sure the LED on the control is aimed at the LED of the receiver. Push the button and the receiver should power on and off. To adjust the receiver to be programmed, point the remote control and hold down the push button switch. Adjust the pot or taper on the receiver until you hear a click. This links the remote control and the receiver

A Must-have for all compatible Nikon Cameras!!
00:00:00 11-12-2011
If you have a compatible Nikon then you owe it to yourself to get this product. Just order it. I promise you'll be glad you did. No more stupid self-timers and no more camera shake on those 30-second night exposures. I promise you'll fall in love with this when you're trying to get the kids to stay still for Christmas and Easter cards :-)

Amazing Remote Control for Nikon
00:00:00 11-10-2011
Worked right out of the box; even comes with its own case! Just set the Nikon for remote mode, frame the camera and it's point'n'shoot from then on. No more trying to outrun the 8-second delay to get into the picture; and you can take any number of photos, not just one! For the cost, it's worth it!

Wireless Remote Control for Nikon
00:00:00 11-07-2011
I purchased this Nikon Remote Control for my D200. I like using a tripod to get as little as possible camera shake. There is also a feature with the D200 when the shutter release button is pressed, there is a lag between the mirror moving out of the way and the photo actually being taken which further eliminates vibration. Add this remote and you virtually take away any possibility for camera shake (wind not included).

This Wireless Remote Control is wonderful to use if there is no one else around and you'd like a photo of yourself. A great product, reasonably priced, and a satisfactory transaction with the seller.

Works great

You have to go into the menu and enable the remote control first before it will work, otherwise it will do nothing.

Nikon should include this feature with the camera
00:00:00 11-02-2011
This Camera Remote Control works great! I really impress people with the ability to take a picture remotely. Perfect for those family shots where you are trying to get everyone to smile and you have to get in the picture as well. I believe Nikon could sell their SLR's better if they marketed this nice feature.
