How to pack your camera bag for a shoot?
The last thing you want to happen in the middle of taking pictures away from home is realize that you have misplaced or forgotten equipment necessary to make your shoot a success. Using a gear bag and keeping it stocked with camera essentials will help you avoid situations like this during shoots. Included here is a list of fundamental items every photographer should have in their bag aside from extra lenses, filters, and other accessories.
- Start by choosing a camera bag that will be able to protect your camera and the items mentioned above. A good camera bag needs to be sturdy, easy to open and close, and have plenty of room for your accessories.
- You'll need pack some spare batteries in your bag. Even a fully manual SLR camera still needs fresh batteries if it has an internal light meter. More importantly, digital cameras run solely on battery power and most of these cameras have a battery life of 2 hours before needing to be replaced or recharged.
- Extra rolls of film in your bag are also essential. You don't want to miss a great shot because you only brought one roll to an entire day's worth of shooting. If you are using a digital camera then you will need to keep extra memory cards in your bag as well for this same reason.
- A lens cloth or lens wipes can mean the difference between a lens with sharp clarity or a smudged up lens that robs you of a clear and defined photograph. Use this cloth to wipe off fingerprints and dust from your camera's lenses or LCD screen before and during picture taking.
How to Pick a Protective Camera Case?
Cameras require protection from the elements and abuses of everyday use and travel. A quality camera cases is an integral part of any photographer's inventory. Keep the following tips in mind when selecting a case to protect the tool that captures your most precious memories.
- Consider the equipment in the camera case and determine how much space you need. Many times just the camera is in the camera case. Other times lenses, flashes, tripods and other equipment need a safe place within the protective case as well.
- Look for an easy-to-carry bag that's light and fits the needs of the photographer. Large, heavy cases get in the way and are difficult to store. Heavy cases may seem more secure but are often dropped.
- Choose a compartmentalized case to hold many different pieces of equipment. Many cases offer a hook and look style interior that reconfigures to the photographer's taste or needs.
- Buy a case that ideally holds two camera bodies, two or three lenses and a flash unit. A medium-sized bag that holds this equipment and weighs no more than 20 lbs. reduces fatigue on the photographer.
- Inspect the protective camera case for quality workmanship. Solid stitching on soft cases and the ability to partition the interior is essential. Hard cases need strong welds and reinforced corners and edges to protect against rough handling.

02-28-2011- Other Thoughts: Just got back from a Mexico trip and this bag went with me everywhere. Easy to use, plenty of space: 1 Sony A300, 1 Digital video camera, 1 point and shoot camera, 1 300 mm lens, two batteries, a tri-pod, this bag took it all. I am very glad I bought this bag!

03-02-2011- Other Thoughts: This is a very handy slingbag, specially when you want to take your SLR with you when biking.
Plus is does not "show" you carry a camera, so it does prevent against theft ( to a certain extent of course)
Price/Value is good.

Definitly can recommend it !!
