Size in Detail:
How to Open a Combination Padlock- With the lock firmly closed, turn the dial twice. This clears any previous numbers off of the lock and allows you to start anew.
- Starting at zero, turn the dial clockwise to the first number of your combination and then stop.
- Turn the dial counterclockwise towards the second number of your combination. Pass it once, and then stop on it when you come to it a second time.
- Turn the dial clockwise to the last number and stop.
- Firmly pull on the round part of the lock and it will seperate from the metal bars holding it closed.
How to Open a Keyed Padlock
- Insert your key into the bottom of the padlock.
- Twist the key.
- You can now pull your padlock open.
How to Pick a Padlock
For whatever reason you need to know how to pick a padlock, this article goes over a technique that will help you do this activity. Basically, there are two different ways that will be discussed in this article. One works best for master padlocks and the other is for combination locks. Read on to learn how to pick a padlock.
Instructions- The first thing you need to do is gather your tools. You can purchase a lock pick or make one yourself. There are plenty instructions online for making a lock pick or places to buy one. There are also some videos on YouTube that tells how to make a lock pick. Just search for "How to make a lock pick" and you will see several. It is just easier to buy one yourself. Lockpicking sets usually comes with all the materials you need including a tension wrench.
- Now that you have your tools, get a padlock to test this on. Turn the lock upside-down so that the keyhole is facing you.
- Stick the tension wrench into the bottom of the keyhole. Use your finger to keep it in place and to apply just a little pressure to it. Don't use too much pressure. If you do, this will not work. Also, make sure you are keeping the same amount of pressure through this whole procedure or you will have to start all over.
- Get the right-sized lock pick and start working it into the keyhole. With the lock pick, push each of the little pins inside the keyhole upwards until all of them have been pushed. That is it. You've just picked your first master padlock.
How to Change a Door Lock:
- Before moving into a new house, the first thing you should do is change the door locks for all exterior doors. With a little practice and experience you will be able to change locks quickly with little to no problems. Feel safe and secure in your new home knowing you hold the only keys to the doors
- Look on the door latch to determine the brand of lock. Purchase the same brand of lock to keep from making any adjustments to the door
- Take the measurement of your door's backset. Measure from the latch of the door to the center of the door knob. Standard measurements are 2 3/8 inch to 2 3/4 inch
- Remove the screws from the old door lock. Pull each half of the lock out of the door after the screws are removed
- Remove the screws from the edge of the door. Remove the old lock
- Insert the new lock. Insert the screws into the edge of the door and secure tightly
- Put the front and back of the lock back together inside the door. Reinsert the screws and secure them tightly
Tips & Warnings:
- If the internal lock pieces are the same brand and size, you do not have to replace them
- When replacing the entire lock, glue wooden golf tees into the screw holes on the edge of the door. Snap off the top of the tees and insert the new screws

Narrow enough to fit through the links on a small chain, which makes it ideal for connections that would be impossible with anything larger. I've used it in wet all-weather conditions for a month and the key action remains smooth.

09-23-2011- Other Thoughts: Look at the dimensions closely. I found out after they shipped that they are small like luggage locks. But they're not TSA approved, so you can't even use as a luggage lock on airlines. If you want two keyed-alike locks that are bigger keep browsing down the list. <br/> <br/>Not a great choice for a locker shackle either. <br/> <br/>But they lock and unlock as advertised.
