DIY Manual Remote Camera Release for Panasonic FZ50 Digital Cameras

Using a remote control with the Panasonic DMC-FZ50 camera is useful for shooting in certain environments. Remote controls, or remote triggers as they are also known, reduce camera shake. This is particularly useful when shooting in low light when a steady hand is required to avoid blurring. Setting up a remote is a straightforward process and will take as little as 10 minutes to set up.

Instructions

• Extend the legs of the tripod so it is in a standing position. Ensure that all three legs are locked into place to add stability. Turn on the FZ50 camera to make sure the battery is full. If it is low, open the battery compartment and replace with the spare camera battery.
• Attach the FZ50 to the tripod by threading the screw for the tripod seat into the allocated recess on the bottom of the camera body. Rotate the camera in a clockwise motion until it is securely locked onto the tripod seat.
• Open the side panel on the Panasonic FZ50 body and locate the remote control port. Unwind the cable to the remote camera trigger and insert the adapter into the remote control camera port. Test the remote control by shooting a series of test pictures. If it does not respond, check the batteries in the remote control and the cable connection to the port. If the connection is good, remove the back battery panel and replace with new batteries. Begin the test shoot again.

Instructions

Take one transceiver and attach it to the hot shoe on top of the camera. Set both transceivers to the same radio channel, if there are multiple choices.

Travel allocated distance from camera and press the transceiver when ready. Camera will photograph remotely.
