How to choose an SLR camera bag:
- Make a list of all the camera equipment you want to store. Decide if you want to include all of your equipment or just a few select items. Include room for battery chargers, batteries and media cards or rolls of film
- Decide where you want to shop for your SLR camera bag. Browse online camera stores for a variety of mailorder options. Visit your local camera shop to see what they have in stock. Look in photography hobbyist magazines for ads, photos and listings of retailers who will ship camera bags
- Traditional shoulder-strap bags are the most common. Satchel-style bags allow a main strap to cross over the torso. Waist-, hip- and fanny pack-style SLR camera bags help distribute weight over the hips. Some bags also come with rollers, which resemble luggage. Backpack-style bags are also available
- When testing a bag at the store, try the movable velcro inserts. Arrange them to see if you gear will fit. Decide if you like zippers, velcro, snaps and closures with straps. Adjust the straps and test all the parts for ease of function
- Bring your photography equipment with you to the store and ask to try out the camera bags to see if your gear will fit. Carry the bag around the store to see how much it weighs and if it is comfortable
How to travel with your DSLR:
- Take stock of what you have. Make a mental or physical list of the camera equipment you have, the DSLR, lenses, back-up cameras, batteries, memory cards, USB cords, filters, and other accessories that you have
- Consider where you are traveling. Will you need to carry all of your equipment everywhere with you? Will you be able to store what you are not using in a hotel safe? Are you taking a computer to download photos? Will you be near enough to a store to purchase an item, say a memory card, if you need another
- Ask yourself what kinds of pictures you will be taking. Will you need a wide angle lens for panorama shots, or will you be working closer in taking portraits in an urban setting? Are you a nature photographer who likes taking macro photos and needs a special lens, or wildlife photographer who needs a telephoto or zoom lens
- Decide on what lens(es) you need to take. Remember that when you change the lens you expose the image sensor to the elements. Most people find that taking one or two lenses is manageable. I used to take a 17-40 and 70-200 mm lens, until I got an 18-270mm
- Take waterproof materials, plastic bags for your camera and accessories, if you will be traveling in moist weather
- Take extra batteries, memory cards, filters, and USB cord (if needed). Don't forget the re-charger for your battery. If you need a tripod and external flash, pack those also
- If you have room and an extra digital "pocket" camera, consider taking it for the quick pictures
- Pack. Review your list and make a final check of your camera equipment before packing and closing up your bags before departure

03-15-2011- Other Thoughts: The bag comes with a carrying handle on top and a strap for your shoulder. If neither of them is enough for you, you can also carry it on your waist belt because it has a velcro strap on the back of the bag that allows your belt to slide through it.

09-22-2010- Other Thoughts: This is a great bag for a small camcorder. I bought this for my Samsung camcorder, and I love it. The only problem that I had was fitting all of the cables and the little remote that comes with the camera

10-26-2010- Other Thoughts: I purchased this bag because some reviewers mentioned other bags were too large and the camera did not have a snug fit. This bag does give my camera a snug fit but not much room for accessories. As long as that's not a problem for you, then this bag will work great. If you are planning on caring around more than a spare battery, you may want to consider something else.

05-11-2011- Other Thoughts: I love the fact that I can put my SLR here with plenty of room for lens and other accessories. It is a nice compact option to a backpack when I don't need to pack as much gear.
