How to Make Fun Placemats?
Placemats help keep children--and some adults!-- from making a big mess on the dining table. Many kids like having designated places for themselves and others at the table ("my chair," "Dad's place"), along with personalized placemats to identify the spots. You can make a simple placemat out of a piece of tag board, decorate it with markers and then laminate it to make it easy to clean with a damp cloth.- Cut tag board into 15-by-12 inch rectangles, using a ruler to make a straight edge. Make as many placemats as there are family members who dine together.
- Decorate the placemats with markers. Children can draw a picture of each family member on the designated placement, add the name and make a border with lines, dots or other repeating shapes.
- Run the finished placemats through a laminating machine, which you can find available for public use at most copy centers.
- Cut away excess laminating material, leaving a 1/2-inch margin around the placemat to be sure the tag board is sealed in.

11-18-2010- Other Thoughts: These mats are excellent, at the price I expected something mediocre, at best. When they arrived they struck me as elegant, as and actually less flimsy than I expected. They are pretty heavy and high quality. I have yet to have a stain of any kind, as they persist in appearing new. I would have been willing to pay 2x-3x as much for these. I immediately ordered a 2nd set as a gift. And I'm a perfectly reasonable reviewer, not one of these glass half full no matter what types. - promise.

08-20-2010- Other Thoughts: Great, practical placemat for my little toddler. He loves looking at all the space stuff. It is flexible, super easy to clean, and just the right size for him. Now I can't wait to get a "girl" one for my daughter when she's a toddler.

06-16-2010- Other Thoughts: Very trendy, stylish and easy maintenance placemats. These placemats are easily washable and the texture is same on both sides. So it doesn't matter which side is up. Good for daily use. Value for money. No lining so the strands might come out after daily usage for over an year.

02-09-2010- Other Thoughts: These are beautiful placemats but now that they are dirty, how do you wash them? I tried to was one in the washing machine and laid it flat to dry. While it is clean it seems to have shrunk a bit and will not lay flat. I am contemplating how the clean the others.

04-08-2010- Other Thoughts: These are very easy to use and maintain, I don't use a tablecloth and these stay in place very well. They don't show every little splatter or drip so a once a week wipe seems to do the trick. If I had to say one negative is drinking glass sweat does pass through the mess.
