How to Install Door Handles and Locks:
- Buy a door handle and lock. Consider which way your door opens as well as what weather conditions the handle will have to endure. Purchase accordingly
- Remove the old door handle and lock. Use a power drill or flathead screwdriver to remove all screws. Remove everything so you're only left with a hole in the door
- Install the guts of the handle and lock. Put the lock in the door along with the parts of the handle and attach with any necessary screws. Be careful as these are small, delicate parts of the handle and can get lost or broken easily
- Attach the handle on both sides of the door. Then install any trim that came with your new door handle. This you'll need to screw into the door. Don't forget to cover the screws on the other side with screw covers
- Check the handle to see that it works properly. Insert the key in the lock and ensure the lock is working well too. Then shut the door and check the way it closes. If everything is in working order, you're done
