How to Choose a Raincoat:
- Consider how you're going to use the raincoat. If it's to go over business attire or is to be worn on the town, look for something upscale. If you're a camper or hiker, check with an outdoor or camping store
- Consider the warmth of the raincoat and the climate of the place where you'll wear it most often. Although some parkas are both warm and waterproof, you may only need a light raincoat to go over clothing
- Think about the length of the raincoat. While men usually wear full-length coats, women often like shorter rain slickers
- Decide whether the raincoat should have a hood. Women sometimes prefer this feature more than do men, although they can also cover their heads with a rain bonnet or umbrella
- Determine how much you want to spend. Rain slickers are generally available for less than $50, while you'll spend much more than that for a full-length raincoat, especially if it is a designer brand
- Choose the material of the raincoat. While raincoats are made of a variety of materials, stick with something lightweight and breathable for the most comfort
- Think about the color. Slickers are available in a variety of bright colors; women's cloth raincoats come in mostly muted colors and men's raincoats are generally limited to black, brown or gray

How To Waterproof a Raincoat:
- When shopping for a waterproof product, read the label carefully to check if it is appropriate for your fabric. Most waterproof sprays contain silicone which results in water beading up and sliding off the fabric. It's best to buy an extra can in order to give your raincoat a thorough treatment
- Clean your raincoat according to the manufacturer's instructions before waterproofing
- Prepare an area inside, such as a basement or garage, by spreading newspaper underneath your raincoat. If you are spraying outdoors, make sure you choose a sheltered spot or a day without wind
- Read the instructions on the waterproofing product you have chosen. Most products are easy to use, but there may be warnings about use that you need to know
- Conduct a spot-check to insure that your fabric won't change colors or be damaged by the spray. Spray a small amount of waterproofing on a hidden part of the garment such as an inner hem and wait until it dries to see if there are any color changes
- Hold the can approximately six to 10 inches from your raincoat and spray in an even pattern to insure that you don't miss a section, paying special attention to seams, where water is more likely to penetrate
- Let the raincoat dry thoroughly and apply a second coat of spray for maximum coverage

11-25-2010- Other Thoughts: This is a heavy duty Mens Rain Coats. It will keep you dry and stay solid. This would make me hot while working in the summer, but I do not need a coat in the summer rain.

01-27-2011- Other Thoughts: High quality. Superior snaps. interior arm gussets keep out rain when you lift your arm. The tall length makes for an extra long jacket. This Mens Rain Coats was designed by someone that knows rainwear.
