Types
- The varying types of leather boots include: thigh-highs, gusset, half boots, Hessian, Wellington, short ankle, cowboy and the biker's.

How to Remove Stains on Leather Boots

Fortunately, leather boots can be cleaned; it's usually not necessary to employ a dry cleaner or leather repair shop to remove a stain or two from your leather boots.Instructions
Oil-Based Stains- Sprinkle cornstarch on the stain.
- Rub area with cornstarch gently in a circular motion with a toothbrush.
- Brush off any excess cornstarch from the leather.
- Add leather conditioner if leather seems dry or needs conditioning.
Water-Based Stains
- Dip a clean washcloth into clear, lukewarm water. Be sure to remove all excess water from the washcloth, making the cloth as dry as possible while still remaining damp.
- Lightly coat the boots with a soft, sweeping motion with your damp washcloth. Do not get the boots thoroughly wet, as this can damage them; paint with broad strokes so the rain drop stains disappear by treating the entire area with a light coating of water.
- Allow to air dry.
- Add leather conditioner if leather seems dry or needs conditioning.
Tips & Warnings
- Do not allow leather to become thoroughly wet, as this will dry and crack your boots. Instead, only allow the surface to become damp. Leather conditioner is available at shoe stores and retail stores.
- If your boots are excessively stained or material value to you, consult with a leather expert for professional cleaning treatment.
