How to Organize Business Cards:
It's easy to give or receive a business card, but keeping track of all those contacts can be challenging. Conventional business card holders can be messy and difficult to navigate through. Luckily, there's a more user friendly solution- Gather your business cards and contacts. Check everywhere you may have left them; in a desk, in the car, under your bed, even the bathroom!
- Purchase a three ring binder. The size of the binder depends on the number of business cards you possess. If you have tons of contacts, a two inch binder might be best. However, most people can get away with a one inch or one and a half inch binder
- Buy transparent business card holder vinyl or plastic sleeves from your local supply store. Make sure they have holes for placement in a three-ring binder. You can also purchase these pages online at supply stores
- Purchase inscrutable tabs for your binder. You can choose to categorize your business cards in whatever way works best for you. Alphabetical tabs are available, as well as multicolored tabs if you wanted to sort your business cards in another way. Be sure to keep one or two blank sleeves at the end of each category for future rearranging
- Insert your business cards into the transparent card file sleeves. You may choose to designate one business card per slot or insert them back to back to utilize space. It is a little easier to access the cards if you put one in each slot
- Label the cover of your binder with an appropriate title. 'Business Cards' or 'Contacts' are the obvious choices, but be as creative as you'd like
How to Design a Business Card Holder:
- Cut a piece of wax paper 1 foot long. This will serve as your work area because the wax won't allow things to stick to it
- Lay two craft sticks flat on the wax paper, side by side. Use strong glue to glue them together to form the base of the cardholder
- Glue four craft sticks together the same way to form the back of the cardholder. Stand the piece upright and apply glue along the bottom edge of the bottom stick. Press the glued edge against the base piece of the cardholder
- Lay three craft sticks side by side and glue them together to form the front of the cardholder. Repeat the process in step 3 to glue the piece to the base of the cardholder
- Use scissors to cut 1.25 inches off either end of two craft sticks. Discard the middle sections. Lay the remaining pieces side by side and glue them together in two pairs. Apply glue along the bottom edge of each pair and press it against the base of the cardholder to form the left and right sides
- Let the glue on the business card holder dry. Fill it with business cards
