How to Make a Chipboard Word Album Scrapbook:

A chipboard word album is a clever and creative way to showcase favorite photos and mementos, and can be customized to a specific recipient or occasion. Album pages are made of thick cardboard shaped into letters that spell out a word such as BABY, LOVE, FAMILY or FRIENDS. The size of each page grows as the word is spelled out. Ready-made chipboard word albums can be purchased from your craft store or from online retailers.

• Instructions
• Buy one sheet of 12- by 12-inch scrapbook paper or cardstock for each letter page. Select sheets from one design collection if you want the design to be consistent. Assemble embellishments that fit the design of the paper and your photos.
• Play with how you want your photos displayed and how you will use embellishments and journaling on each chipboard page. Crop photos or reprint them as smaller versions if necessary to fit the compact size and letter-shaped configurations of the word album.
• Trace the outline of the front and back of each album page with pencil on the reverse side of scrapbook paper. Cut each shape outline with a craft knife or scissors.
• Adhere the cut scrapbook paper to the front and back of each album letter page. Use a non-liquid adhesive that will not wrinkle the paper.
• Sand the edges of the letter pages with a fine-grit sandpaper to remove any excess paper.
• Cut and adhere your photos onto each page. Add your journaling. Line up the letter pages in their proper order to clarify what will be visible when the book is closed. Do this to prevent photos from peeking out that could take away from the album design.
• Apply desired embellishments. Add acrylic paint around the edges of the pages using a foam brush, which will provide definition and result in a more finished-looking product.
• Cover each finished album page with one or more coats of a decoupage sealant as a layer of protection for when the album gets passed around and admired.
• Assemble your album pages and connect them either with ribbon, fiber or rings. If you use ribbon, keep the ties loose so that the pages turn easily.
• Add finishing touches such as ribbons to the album rings and more embellishments. Show off this special creation.
