How to Install a Bicycle Saddle Seat?
A good bicycle saddle provides a stable and relatively comfortable seat for a cyclist when riding. Metal rails attached to the underside of the saddle are held in place on the bike by a special saddle clamp connected to the seat post. The combination of the rails, the saddle clamp and the seat post clamp make the forward and back position, height, and up or down angle of the seat adjustable to best accommodate the physical needs of each rider. Installing and adjusting a bicycle saddle is relatively simple. The entire process takes just a few minutes- Loosen the Allen bolt on the saddle clamp at the top of the seat post, but do not remove it completely
- Lift the top half of the saddle clamp up and away from the metal rails under the old saddle, if one is still installed
- Rotate the top half of the clamp clockwise 90 degrees to clear the rails. Pull the old saddle up to remove it, if required
- Place the rails of the new saddle into the slots on the lower half of the saddle clamp. Rotate the top half of the saddle clamp 90 degrees to align the slots in the top half with the saddle rails. Tighten the Allen bolt in the saddle clamp until almost closed
- Slide the saddle to the front or back, and angle the front of the saddle up or down until the saddle is in the desired position. Finish tightening the clamp to lock the saddle into position
