How to Remove SATA Cable:

SATA also known as Serial ATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is a computer bus interface for connecting mass storage devices (hard drives and optical drives) to a motherboard. It was designed to replace the ATA (AT Attachment) standard providing high-speed communications over a high-speed serial cable. SATA cables are also much smaller and much easier to handle then the old ATA ribbons, making removing a SATA serial cable is a very easy procedure.- Shut down the PC and remove any cords connected to the back of the computer case
- Turn the computer over carefully and place it onto a solid surface. Place a soft cloth or towel underneath to prevent scratches
- Use antistatic spray or wear antistatic gloves before opening the case. If you do not have any spray or gloves, touch the power supply to ground yourself
- Open up your computer case and locate your PC's drives. The hard drive is usually located on the right side of the computer underneath the optical drive
- Remove the SATA cable. While holding both sides of the cable, gently pull the SATA cable from the hard drive or optical drive and the SATA cable connector on the motherboard
How to Tell the Difference Between Sata Cable Types:

There are three main SATA cable connections used with computers. The first is a standard two-connection SATA cable, the second is a three-connection SATA cable and the third is an eSATA cable. If you are installing new hardware (either internally or externally) into your computer, you need to know the difference between the different cable connections to ensure you hook up the correct ports and cables.- Look at the single cable with two connection plugs. This is either going to be a standard SATA cable or an eSATA cable
- Inspect the connectors on the cable. If one of the connectors has four large pins on the interior, this is a standard interior SATA cable and is used with internal hard drives, DVD drives and other internal hardware
- Check the size of the cable connectors. If both connections on the cable are thin and no large pins are present, this is the eSATA cable, or external SATA. The eSATA cable provides a superior data transfer speed to both USB and firewire, but few computers come with the cable connection type.
- Look at the three-plug SATA cable. One has the four large connection pins and the other two sides are thinner and look like a game controller plug. This is a Y splitter cable and sends the data from a hard drive or DVD drive to two different motherboards

04-14-2011- Other Thoughts: I ordered this SATA cable only a few days ago and it came much faster than I had expected. All of the data that I transfer using this SATA cable will be very stable and the integrity of the files will be good. This is a good USB cable and dual USB cable! I like it! Highly recommend!

07-05-2011- Other Thoughts: I purchased the cable because I have been having problems with a TiVo HD attached to a Western Digital 1 GB My Book AV DVR Expander. The problem appears to be caused by a bad receptacle built into the TiVo HD. I was able to get the original cable, supplied by Western Digital with the Expander, to work by trimming off about a centimeter of the insulation on the connector on the cable which attaches to the TiVo. With this cable the problems gone!

06-30-2011- Other Thoughts: A great cable, it works perfectly. Great, especially for its price. It works fine and I haven't found anything wrong with it so far. It is a bit stiff, but not so that it's unusable. It just might not be great for tight spaces, but it works fine
