How to Make High Heel Shoes Quieter:



Sometimes you might want to wear a pair of high heels to stand out from the crowd and get noticed, but sometimes the loud noise those heels make when they hit a hard floor will become annoying to you. Quite often we find ourselves in places or situations where that loud clicking noise will get you attention that you would rather not have. You can go to a shoe repairman to have rubber soles attached to your heels, but there is a cheaper and easier way to quiet your high heels

• Break off a small piece of duct tape from the roll. Lay the piece of tape sticky side up on a flat surface. Duct is good for this because it will grip the floor better and won't cause you to slip like some materials would. The stickiness on one side also makes it easier to attach it to the bottoms of your heels
• Sit the bottom of the high heel down on the sticky part. Pick the shoe up, press the tape to the bottom of the heel and fold a little bit of the tape up the sides of the heel so that the tape extends upward about 2 millimeters. You don't want to go any further up the heel than that because you don't want it to be too obvious
• Use a pair of scissors to neatly cut the excess tape off around the bottom of the heel. Trim around the heel until the edges of the tape are nearly invisible. Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 for the heel on the other shoe
• Put the shoes on and walk back and forth across a hard floor. If the shoes are now quiet enough for you, you're done. If you think they need to be a little quieter, repeat the process and put another piece of tape over the first piece on each heel. Your pieces of tape will eventually wear out so you will need to replace them every so often

Wedge heels provide a stable base while helping you to get used to balancing on the balls of your feet. Similarly, wider and clumpier heels might not be as elegant as slender heels, but they will be great for helping you to find your balance and get you walking the walk
• Posture: Keep your head up and eyes facing forward. Don't look down, and try to avoid stooping. Relax your knees to let your hips work their natural magic. Take smaller steps and make sure your arms flow gracefully from side to side
• Method: Always step onto the heel of the foot first. If you're wearing very high heels, the temptation will be to to step onto your toes and pull back onto the heel. This will only increase the pain. Remember: heel, ball, toe. Heel, ball, toe

• The Right Shoes: Strappy sandals with open toes will be much more comfortable that closed toe shoes that put extra pressure on the toes. If you do wear closed-toe heels, then add a foot pad to the ball of the foot to stop your feet slipping forward and squishing the toes
• Test Your Limits: When wearing your heels, stand on tip-toe. There should be at least an inch between the bottom of your shoe and the floor. If you have less give than that, then the shoes are too high for you and you won't be able to walk comfortably in them
