How to Position a Baby in a Sleep Positioner:
- A sleep positioner can help your baby get a restful night's sleep, because it helps support his head. The positioner can also prevent a baby from developing a flat head, which is caused by lying in one position too much. According to Baby Slumber.com, you can use a sleep positioner in a crib or a bed. When choosing a sleep positioner, Baby's Room Online recommends one that's made up of breathable materials and is washable.
- Place your baby in the sleep positioner on his back. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) says this may reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
- Adjust the sides, or bolsters, of the sleep positioner so they're resting snug against the baby's sides. According to Baby's Room Online, this keeps the baby in one position and prevents the child from rolling.
- Rotate your baby from his left and right sides to prevent him from developing a flat spot.
How to Keep My Infant From Rolling Into an Unsafe Sleeping Position:

Usually, parents use sleep positioners, which are flat or inclined beds that have side bumpers to prevent the infant from rolling. However, many times babies roll in these positioners and may suffocate on the sides of the bumpers or on the blankets trapped between the bumpers and the baby's body. As of September 2010, the FDA declares these products are no longer safe to use. The best way to prevent your infant from rolling into unsafe sleeping positions is swaddling, a technique that restricts movement from the baby's legs, stopping him from kicking into a rolled position.
- Lay the blanket out on a flat surface. Fold the left corner down to about the width of your hand.
- Position the baby onto the blanket so that the blanket fold sits just above the baby's neck.
- Fold the right corner of the blanket down across the baby's body and tuck it under the baby's side. For newborns, fold the blanket over his hands, which will keep them tight to his body for a comforting womb-like feeling. For babies two months or older, fold the blanket directly under his armpits, leaving his arms free so he does not feel so trapped.
- Fold the left corner of the blanket over the baby's body and tuck the corner under his right side.
- Pick the baby up and fold the bottom of the blanket backwards under his bottom. Set him back in bed on his back.

03-10-2011- Other Thoughts: When done nursing I would slide away from baby and sleep on the other side of the bed. This worked well for me. My husband slept in a different room in a king size bed. I was in the spare room!

03-25-2011- Other Thoughts: Great for nursing at night without turning on a brighter bedroom light & waking your spouse. I wouldn't do without it. The timer feature is great if you fall asleep while nursing. Overall it's a great product.
