How to Transfer Music to Your Android Phone:



New Android users are often confused about how to transfer music from their computer to their phones. Because syncing is not automatic with the Android, as it is with the iPhone, users need to execute a few simple steps before listening to music on their Android phones. Android supports songs in the popular MP3 format. Most Androids also accept M4A, MP4, and WAV files. DRM (digital rights management)-protected music may not work with Android, and will need to be converted before it is transferred to the phone

Instructions

• Mount your Android phone as an external USB drive. Plug the Android into your computer using the included USB cable. A USB icon will pop up in the menu bar. Drag the menu bar down to expose the "USB Connected" dialog. Tap the "USB Connected" dialog. A menu will pop up. Choose "Mount."
• Open the USB drive by going to My Computer > Removable Drive (Windows) or double-clicking the drive icon on your desktop (Mac)
• Open the computer folder containing your music. Often this is your iTunes folder, or a folder called Music on your hard drive. Highlight and drag all the music from your computer onto the removable disk (Android). You may have to wait several minutes while your computer copies the music over to your phone
• Unmount your Android by dragging the drive icon to the trash (Mac) or by using the Safely Remove hardware utility (Windows). Click and drag the top bar on your Android, choose "Turn Off USB Storage" and then "Turn Off."
• Unplug the USB cable

• Power your phone down. Then reboot into recovery mode by holding down the "Home" and "Power" keys simultaneously. Your phone is now rooted
• Install a custom ROM of your choice by downloading it to your SIM card and applying it via the instructions above
