How to Make a Weighted Blanket:
Weighted blankets are used to help bring about a restful state which can induce sleep in certain individuals. Weighted blankets were designed to create pressure stimulation which encourages the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin. Serotonin helps to calm the brain, relieving feelings of anxiety or stress, aiding the body in achieving a good night's rest. The use of weighted blankets is growing in popularity, benefiting those who suffer from insomnia, restless leg syndrome, autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and bi-polar disorder. They can be purchased pre-made or you can make your own at home, adjusting the weight to suit you.- Instructions
- Cut your fabric into uniform square pieces and pin them to one of the blankets, placing them all on the same side.
- Stitch the fabric pieces into place, sewing them to the blanket on three sides and leaving the top open, effectively covering one of the blankets with pockets.
- Determine the amount of weight you'd like your blanket to have. You should add between 5 and 15 percent of the body weight of the user. For example, if the person who is planning to use the blanket weighs 120 pounds, add 6 to 18 pounds of weight.
- Measure the weighted material into easy-to-handle increments, placing ¼ to ½ pound of material into plastic storage bags. Seal the bags, pressing to remove as much air as possible.
- Insert the bags into the blanket pockets and then add a strip of Velcro to the pocket tops. This will enable you to easily open or close the pockets and adjust the amount of weight in the blanket or to remove the weights for laundering.
- Place the second blanket on top of the first. Stitch them together on three sides, leaving one side open. Place Velcro along the open side of the blanket, allowing you access to the interior and the weights.

02-17-2011- Other Thoughts: It's an okay blanket and you can't complain at this price. If this fits your budget, it has my recommendation as it compares well to other blankets in its price range. If you can afford it, I recommend spending a bit more and getting the added warmth of a thicker, heavier blanket.

01-05-2011- Other Thoughts: blanket is nice and soft and warm. the house stays around 70 during the nights and i use it without anything else over me and it keeps me warm. the king size is perfect if you want some extra room to kind of roll up in it and the length of the king is nice because im a little over 6 feet tall and my feet dont stick out from underneath it.

12-21-2010- Other Thoughts: Got this Soft Blanket in the "blue" colour a few weeks ago. I wanted to wait until I washed it to write a review to see how well it held up after a wash. It did just fine. It's a great blanket, soft and not too thick and the colour is exactly what you see in the image above. It doesn't shed at all (I read a ton of reviews trying to find a blanket that wouldn't shed!) and it seems very well made, especially for the price. I wish there were a few more colours available because I would by more of these!

11-15-2010- Other Thoughts: The King Size Blanket is amazing! I was looking for something soft and versatile to use in the living room and bedroom. I found that it was actually too light to use in the bedroom as it didn't keep me warm enough, but it's perfect for snuggling up on the couch. If you live in a warmer climate, than this blanket is perfect for you. It's not so light that it could even be compared to a sheet, but it's also not nearly as warm as most comforters. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my blankets and their deep, rich colors.

11-09-2010- Other Thoughts: This Coral Fleece Blanket is surprisingly soft when compared with other blankets of the same price. The color is nice and the material is warm without being heavy. But it started fraying the first time I put it in the washing machine, so it can't stand very hard use.
