How to Use Component Cables?
Component cables are used to transfer video signals from components to a display. Common applications include conecting DVD players, cable boxes, camcorders or HTIB (home theater in a box) systems to a television or computer monitor.
- With the power turned off, locate the component, or YPbPr, connection on the back of the output device. The connectors will be color coded red, blue and green. Connect the component cables to the component video out. Also, the component cables may have extra red and white wires for RCA audio. If you are transferring stereo audio, connect these extra wires to the audio out. Make sure you do not confuse the red video wire with the red audio wire.
- Turn off the power of your preferred display. The component inputs will be located on the rear or, on some televisions, on the front or side. Using the other end of the component cable, follow the color coded scheme to connect the video and optional audio wires to the display. Take note of which input you used (Input 1, Component 1 etc.).
- Turn the display on and select the correct input for your new connection. Next, turn on your source output device. Make sure that a video signal is being transferred by turning on your cable box and switching to a reliable channel or placing a DVD in your DVD player and pressing play. If connected properly, a video image will be displayed on your screen.
- If you do not see an image on the display, make sure that the television is set to the correct input. If you notice discoloration or distortion, the cables are probably in the wrong input or output. Check to see if the red video wire and the red audio wire are switched, as this is the most common mistake. Once the troubleshooting process is complete, you will be ready to watch your TV.

05-03-2011- Other Thoughts: I'll admit it, I bought into the whole "high-end cable" thing for a while but sites like Amazon opened my eyes to what a scam expensive component cables were. This cable works great, it's cheap and it is small. No more big snarl of wires, no problems with interference or degradation of image or sound quality and you have money left over to pay for Blu-Rays or your Netflix subscription.

05-31-2011- Other Thoughts: You could certainly spend more for these cables but I'm not sure why. I especially found it convenient that all of the wires were wrapped together - it sure makes it easy to conceal the wiring.

06-06-2011- Other Thoughts: This works as advertised and does great. I wish I had gone to Wal-Mart first and just bought the two sets (RGB and WR audio cables) for $19 instead of paying more for this. But, this is a single cable set and works exactly like it says for a decent price so I can't complain too much :)
